Questions & Answers

MIA B : can you attach your regular canon neck strap to this to quick release? I want a faster way to remove my neck strap when I don't need it.PATRICK P : Yes, I wish I had figured that out. I now have a spare set that I will never use.REY M : No, the regular strap does not have the quick release buckles on it. The other piece you need to use for this system to work is the Tamrac N-17 or N-45 (there are others) which is 1) a more comfortable strap anyway and 2) has the quick detach buckles so you can switch quickly from a neckstrap to a backpack configuration. Whichever neck strap you get, consider the lenses you will use in the long run. I carry my 7D with a 100-400 lens around my neck very comfortably with the N-45 where I KNOW the kit strap would basically wind up cutting through my neck as heavy as the rig is. These backpack straps (N-11) are a MUST regardless of which matching strap you select. Makes for more shots to have your camera front and center when the time comes.JAMES S : No, These are designed so that one end is attached to the camera, the other end hooked on to your shoulder straps of a backpack so that you can attach the camera to them as you hike and it does not hang on your neck. But they do make a set that you can use for the purpose you want.JOAN P : You need to get a Tamrac neck strap to replace the Canon neck strap. They have different connectors. But once you have the Tamrac neck strip, it is easy to disconnect and re-connect to switch between using the back-pack straps and the neck strap.MARC M : I'm not sure about the Canon strap. I use the Tamrac N25 neoprene strap, which has stretch to it so it's comfortable. The N25 is compatible with these backpack straps. I love the backpack straps -- it's much easier on my neck having the camera supported on the backpack straps over a long hike. I also use an REI elastic strap (meant for a sleeping back strap to a pad) to keep the camera body against my chest and not flopping around.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?JAMES S : Performs exactly as intended. Allows the user to attach the camera to the shoulder straps as you hike so the camera is hanging on your neck, but is still secure in front and easily reached for taking shots.

Great product!

Fits my camera pack as well as my regular day pack. The weight of the camera and lense are completley carried by the shoulder straps.

Backpack Camera Strap Attachment

All the Tamrac attachment clips are the same, that let me click off my regular strap and clip into the backpack so the weight of the cameras is now on the backpack shoulder straps but the camera is still available in front of me.

What a good idea!

Why don't all the straps have this option? These were so hard to find. [...]Anyway, these straps are great. It balances my backpack, camera is always handy but most of all it takes the weight off my neck. The quick release makes switching between neck strap and backpack so simple.

Backpack Camera Straps

Takes the load off your neck. Balances the backpack. Camera needs to be out to take pictures, not in the bag.

Does the job

Really bought these for the additional straps that attach to the camera as I already have two of Tamrac's neck straps (all interchangeable) and needed one more set for my third camera. It is a great alternative for when hiking with a back pack and you want to keep your camera at the ready. Initial quality is certainly present; we will see how it holds up over time and useage.

Versatility in a simple system!

I shoot in the mountains frequently; mountain biking, landscapes, skiing, etc. Being able to switch from my Boomerang strap to the backpack straps with the same camera or switch between cameras with the quick-release buckles is a life-saver! Plenty of adjustment for good positioning for climbing or hiking and still be able to get to the camera quickly.

a good buy

Great for use when traveling. improved quick release design doesn't pinch my fingers while commenting as old version often did.

Fits my camera pack as well as my regular day pack. The weight of the camera and lense are completley carried by the shoulder straps.

These straps clip to the "D" rings on backpack harnesses to hold cameras ready for quick access. They have quick-release connectors and interchange with all Tamrac quick-release straps.
