Nice little unit. You have to make sure that the gains are set up correctly and then it will record well. Mine came without the y connector, but I wasn't charged for it. The headphones work, I gave them to my grandson. So, a useful tool when I want to record away from the studio.

This is my second one of these recorders and I love them. The mark two offers great connectivity to many different sources and high-quality recording.

Very picky about what sd cards it will recognize. Have worked with other tascam models before and not had such trouble getting it set up.

I do 3-4 camera coverage of concerts, plays & special events. The Tascam DR-60D MKII gives added security the audio will be good. Convenient size & capabilities make this a good choice.

Solid recorder. Only complaint is that the user interface is a little clunky

I recieved my audio recorder early. It was packed well. I enjoy using it to record multiple audio inputs at once. The sound quality is good. My favorite part is that it records each input as it's own individual recording.

I really like this unit it has a multitude of settings for any recording situation and monitoring situation. It has decent gain with my microphones (NTG-2, Movo LC-8, AT2035) and the preamps seem very clean. I like that I can mount my DSLR on top of it for a streamlined setup when out in the field. It is a plastic body but I wouldn’t expect metal for a sub $200 price point. I like that I can power it with a usb power bank, will go all day on a 10,000 mAh battery pack, even with phantom power on two mics. I highly recommend this unit for anyone who is looking for a good value. I would think that this unit would work for most YouTubers or videographers who only need 2 XLR and 2 PIP mics. It can record 16ish hours of audio at 24/96 on a 32GB SD card which should be plenty for any setup.

This thing records good, has a good noise floor and good preamps. Easy menus and setup. The biggest thing I like about this is the fact that you can use a USB battery pack to power this and forget the batteries! I have been bit by the rechargeable's and just buying batteries is something I don't want to worry with.

Have only used it once to record 2 XLR mics, but easy menus to navigate and configure. Bought a slim USB battery pack which velcro'd nicely on the back to give me longer recording times.

One purchased elsewhere was defective. The first one purchased at Adorama was defective. The second one purchased at Adorama so far has been fine. But unless you need the (excellent) recording capability of the unit, and if your camera or camcorder can do an OK job of the actual recording, all you need is a D box, for less money. If I had to do it over again, I would buy the Canon camera with the XLR inputs built into the handle and ship this unit or a D box entirely. That said, for the advanced amateur or the pro, this unit provides abundant controls that a pro really needs. But with that comes a certain level of complexity. That's life, and well justifed.

I needed something to compliment my Canon XC10 system I am building. This Tascam DR-60D MKII - is an amazing tool if you want portability and capability. I recently discovered I'm Autistic.I am developing a YouTube channel to post interviews and short documentaries about people who are autistic, and those who's live have been touched by autism. This means I will be doing studio work as well as interviews at events, in people's homes, etc.. So I need something that will work on a simple set or out on many possible locations. This Tascam very versatile. It is small enough to put in a fanny pack and carry mobile but has worked great in the studio too. I sometimes just use it as a mixer to feed my xlr mics into my Cannon, and can record a copy of the audio as a back up. I can not think of a system more fitted to my needs! Adorama has the best deal on these too - Great Kit! - Service/ shipping was fast - They excel in customer service - They've earned my respect!

For the price this is a great device. My colleague has used this for a year on single operator shoots. These shoots are high profile "no fail" interviews. He has had no problems. I just purchased my first and am pleased. The preamps are not near as clean as Sound Devices however the signal to noise has surpassed my expectation for the price from Adorama. What is even more amazing is the output and monitoring capabilities!

Great preamps, clean, and plenty of options to make audio capture easy for my videos. Sits nicely between my tripod and DSLR. Love the physical dials and buttons (and the menu labor is easy enough). I do hope the plastic body survives a drop. But I’m happy overall, especially for the price. Slate option is cool too. I might even use this as a non-video field audio recorder.

I have only used the Tascam DR-60D on a couple of occasions but it will fill my needs perfectly. I was having trouble getting a shotgun mic to work with my Nikon D500. Everything I tried only introduced a ton of background noise. Even mixers that were suppose to help, did nothing. As I'm getting into nature recording I needed something that would give me off-camera audio recording since the pre-amps on the camera are really low quality and seems to be the source of the noise issue. This solved the problem. It gave me more options for controlling gain. Overall it gave me a lot more control of my sound and removed most, if not all, of the background noise. And there's plenty of room to expand. I'm using one Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun XLR mic which gives me great sound. With two XLR mic inputs I can expand to a second mic in the future. It's also light and very portable. Most of what I do is at wetlands and wildlife refuges so I have to do a lot of walking. I can mount it on a tripod next to my camera and run whatever length of XLR cable I need to the mic, thus getting it closer to the desired environment and further away from any noise I myself might make while operating the camera video. It might not be top professional quality but, since I'm a beginner with audio, it does what I need. I would recommend this if you need something inexpensive but lightweight and portable and still get good sound.

I've shot multiple shorts, documentaries, and events using this and it has yet to fail me. The preamps inside are extremely clean and the fact that it supplies phantom power makes my life a lot easier when I'm on a run-and-gun type of shoot. The battery life is okay, but I tend to run it off of bus power because I can start recording and come back a few hours later and it's still running. Overall, it's a great recorder for how much you pay, and it has a small form factor meaning you can mount it wherever you want.

When I shoot a typical 3-camera setup, I simply can't have enough audio capture to ensure I have it recorded right. An inexpensive recorder for safety, redundancy, primary or stand alone.

A good little recorder for dslr and compact camera video production as well as beginning sound enthusiasts. Plenty of gain for microphones that need some juice, but poor battery life when using phantom power. The digital pots are stepping so trying to mix with this device will only work depending on the use case. Usually fine for audio and voice recording, but when recording tones or music it lacks the linearity of analog pots.

I am using the Tascam on my Canon 70D Camera. I love it! The size is small that you can pack it with your camera. It is super great using the 2 XLR Microphone inputs. Great for 2 people interviews or 1 for a lab and shoot gun mic. Very Nice.

Six years ago shot a documentary with a whole crew. It made my life much easier but this time, I am planning to shoot a documentary all by myself without a sound guy or crew, so I needed an inexpensive preamp/recorder. I test with both Rode NTG2 and NTG3 works really well and happy with the preliminary test. The audio was clean, up to the level, with minimum background noise. For the price ($) it is one of the best/easiest to work with.

Although I'm a pro when it comes to photography, I'm new to video and sound. This recorder is perfect for newbies like me. It's really easy to use and won't break the bank. The menu is clear and easy to navigate and with a couple of days practice, I was confident and ready to record on the day of my shoot. Highly recommended.

The Tascam Dr60dII is a best buy. it gives you 2 great pre amps and a 4 channel recording capability. Basically you set up with this machine is 2 mics in and record 2 channels to at the average level and 2 at -10db as a safety. You cant lose -- always keep the limiter on and you can also output to the camera audio in. At undefr ($) and sometimes at Adorama ($) and even then a ($) rebate - ITS A STEAL EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE ONE!!!

It does a very good job for what it's intended. The only thing costing it a review star is the lack of smooth gain. As was described in an online review, gain increases and decreases come in jumps, not smooth rolls. This is obviously noted while monitoring and adjusting the audio. And for the travel of the potentiometers (gain knobs), there are seemingly only five or so gain settings, preventing the minute precision you may need. There is also a slight delay in implementing gain changes so if you're monitoring live audio, and must attenuate for a moment, you may be too late.

Highly recommend apparatus to anybody who wants a reliable, affordable, dedicated audio recorder. Interfaces with my camera for clean audio much better quality than on cam by itself.

I use this in conjunction with my DSLR and I really like it. Clean audio with real volume knobs that I can monitor while recording. Definitely a good buy.
