Excellent image, transparency and quality. This is not a simple barlow, it is an image amplifier which uses optics design to capture as much light as possible from the telescope and magnify the image. I am attaching a video taken with a Lunt 50 H-alpha solar telescope, which shows the excellent quality of the image. Note the solar flare and prominences captured. The prominences are extremely faint details which get easily wiped out by a low quality barlow.

Due to cloudy skies, I haven't had a lot of scope time with this Powermate lens but I have viewed Jupiter, Saturn, and sunspots with it and my 19mm Clave lens and I have to say that I'm quite pleased with the sharpness and clarity of the images. The lens definitely has some weight to it which necessitated my having to put some brakes on the scope tube for balance but that was no big deal. Also, it was a very pleasant experience dealing with Adorama for the purchase. Great lens!

The Televue 5X Powermate, like the Televue eyepieces I have, is high quality. I purchased it for use with my Nikon dslr for photography through a Series 6000 Meade refractor and I am quite happy with the results. One note: the refractor did not provide enough focusing distance for the camera-Televue combination. Adding an inexpensive Orion eyepiece extension tube solved the problem.

I bought it for tasking pictures through my TV-85. I wanted the sun or moon to fill a full frame sensor. Works perfectly for that. Also stunning when used visually. Be aware, as a 2" accessory it is deceptively big and heavy. Since most high-powered eyepieces are 1 1/4" size, they tend to be much smaller and lighter than using this beast. But the views through are incredible! As an accessory for full-frame photography, this can't be beat.

It allowed me to see the Calcium bandwidth for the first time with both eyes, which means also seeing the objects for the first time, after several years going mono. A work of art.

It's great! Fits well, attached 20mm and 32mm eyepieces. Worked really well. Recommend it!

This is a quality 'magnificator' for your 1.25" EP. As advertised, it is better than a normal barlow and provides 2.5X magnification and nothing else. Yes it does make you get some more money out of your pocket than barlows, but it does a better job so I think it's worth it.

Use this with my 85mm and 105mm refractors and it works great!! To my eyes, it is shows a much clearer visual image than the barlow I was previously using. Another wonderful product from Al & David Nagler and the folks at Tele Vue!!

I use this mainly for astrophotography. It works great with the Nagler 17mm eye piece also.

Although I have only used the Tele Vue 2.5 Powermate on selected viewing occasions at our LCAS Astronomy Club dark sky sites,I found it to be a wonderful addition to my deep sky viewing capabilities. The clarity and eye relief the powermate offers adds to a great pleasure in the astronomy hobby.

Excellent quality in an image amplifier
By Hermann P.
Where precision and performance meet, the Tele Vue 2.5x Powermate 1.25" Image Amplifier stands out. This advanced optical tool amplifies power while maintaining the eyepiece's eye-relief, enhancing your viewing experience. It also slows down your telescope's f/#, resulting in improved eyepiece sharpness.
The 2.5x Powermate Barlow is a compact, 4-element parfocal lens system that introduces compensations for eyepiece aberrations. It features a unique design that combines a negative achromatic doublet with a positive "pupil-correcting" doublet. This design ensures your eyepiece operates with pupil locations as intended by the designer, eliminating mismatch issues.
The Powermate optimally matches its power to your eyepieces, eliminating the need for an additional "interface lens". This is because the Powermate has this feature built-in, offering you a seamless viewing experience.
The Powermate is more than just a Barlow. It includes full multi-coating and other special touches from Tele Vue, such as a safety undercut on the chrome barrel and captive lock screws that can't fall out. Tele Vue's 100% QC program at f/4 ensures that the Powermate will add dramatic power to your favorite eyepieces without adding anything else.
For instance, if you own a 22mm Panoptic, the 2.5x Powermate will provide you with the power of an 8.8mm focal length eyepiece. The Powermates are designed to be parfocal with Tele Vue's 1-1/4" 90-degree diagonal, adding a level of convenience not previously available with any Barlow.
The 2.5x Powermate is compatible with Dobsonian/Newtonian owners using Tele Vue's Paracorr coma corrector. It also accepts the Tele Vue PTR-1250 T-ring Adapter for close coupling cameras and CCD Imagers. For imaging purposes, the user can simply unscrew the eyepiece holder barrel and screw on the T-Ring Adapter instead.
In conclusion, the Tele Vue 2.5x Powermate 1.25" Image Amplifier is a sophisticated tool that enhances your viewing and imaging experience, making it a valuable addition to your telescope setup.
