Shopper : I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one? I just bought a Nikon 5100, did somebody tried in it ??NATE C : "I mainly chose the 5da because of my budget. it was MUCH cheaper than the juiced link and works fairly well. You do get what you pay for with a more expensive input device but this certainly gets the job done. My main concern with this model is a high frequency ring that can be heard over audio when the AGC disabler is used. If you have editing software you can use a high pass or EQ filter to get rid of this. If you aren't using pro software however, i wouldn't recommend this product. I would get a second opinion on this however because it could simple be an issue with my particular camera with this device. I shoot a Canon 7D. The headphone audio quality is very good but doesn't output the ringing so you don't hear that until you get your audio into post. The LCD is bright and clear but isn't very accurate except to basically show you whether or not audio is being picked up. Other notable features - battery life is awesome, jacks lock securely (which has been an issue on other models), and knobs are fairly rugged. Overall a very good buy for the price."NATE C : I mainly chose the 5da because of my budget. it was MUCH cheaper than the juiced link and works fairly well. Beachtek DXA-5DA and Canon 60d

I planned on using this with my Sennheiser EW100 2G wireless mics. WORD OF CAUTION! Do a lot of testing ahead of time on xmitter, rcver, Beachtek settings, and camera. The unit allows you to 'monitor' audio, but it may not be exactly what the camera is hearing. Also, not all mics will work. Choose carefully between the passive model and the active model.. The VU meters are pretty much worthless. Better Beachtek would have eliminated this feature and charge $100 less.

About BeachTek DXA-5Da

The BeachTek DXA-5Da is a two-channel, transformer balanced XLR adapter for attaching external microphones and other audio gear to any DSLR camera that has a built-in mic jack. It can also be used with any camcorder or other audio recording device that has a mic jack. The DXA-5Da uses high quality balancing transformers, which are completely noise free for superb audio.

The DXA-5Da is very easy to set up and use. It allows you to connect a wide variety of audio devices including professional microphones, wireless systems and even take a feed from a house sound system or mixer. The built-in level meters show the input signal strength at a glance while the trim controls allow you to adjust the input level for optimum recording. The headphone jack lets you monitor the audio that is coming out of the adapter.

A unique feature of the DXA-5Da is the ability to control the wild swings of the Auto Gain Control that plague most cameras. This dramatically reduces noise during quiet moments of recording. The adapter mounts to the bottom of the camera and can also be mounted to any standard tripod.
