LaCie 500GB Rugged Reviews

I use this drive as a secondary/redundant time machine backup drive. It mirrors my other/current 500GB Iomega drive. Besides running hot, it does the job well. Runs very quiet, I hardly notice it at times. I would give it five stars, but for me the "running hot" issue is a concern to me.

Shooting video for out of down producer's has always been dicey. They either don't have a hard drive for their material or they show up with something with a usb1 port. These drives are small, fast and inexpensive. Depending on the codec they'll hold up to 5 hours of material. You can keep a couple in a case for emergency situations and because they only have one usb3 port you don't need to carry a bunch of cables with you.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  can I plug a lacie rugged drive into my MacBook Pro via USB and daisy chain via the FIREWIRE port to an older firewire drive rugged drive?
OLIVA CONSTRUCT E  Sorry. I have never tried this
Shopper  Prompt asks for a Log-in and Password. How do I set that up?
Andrew R  Unfortunately without knowing the operating system you are using and the specifics of your problem it is difficult to provide accurate guidance. It is possible that the machine you're attempting to connect this to is requiring an administrative login to allow the attachment of an external device, in which case you will need to consult with the individual that manages your computer to assist you.
