Very nice piece of kit

I use this to photograph plants & flowers, night photography, long exposures in dim light. I have had this head for about 8 months, along with a Vanguard carbon fiber tripod, a good combination. Once I got used to the ball head, I find that the changes are very quick, and the camera is held very securely. The combination clamping mechanism has taken me a bit of getting used to--loosen the inner knob, then adjust the outer knob, then tighten the inner knob to clamp tightly. If you aren't careful, you can get both knobs locked tightly, which takes a bit of persuasion to loosen. The quick release is really slick, and I like the fact that it takes Arca-Swiss style long plates, although I haven't needed to use that feature, yet. Very nicely finished, well made. Anyone who loads 44 lbs on this is going to be disappointed, I suspect--it might hold it, but I think that is way over its practical useful range. Vanguard has good product support--had an issue with another product of theirs--they sent a fix, free, very quickly. All in all, a good product, which makes it easy to use a tripod, and take better pictures.
