I never liked or wanted a monopod, I just wanted to use my tripod. My photo's were coming out a bit blurred at times. I finally broke down and bought this one. Now, I love it! It goes every where with me, there are times when I can't take or use my tripod, and this one "fills the gap". It is lightweight, and I have no problem with it at all. A photographer did give me a tip about the use of it. He told me that when I loosen the thing for the leg to fall down, don't loosen all the way or I will strip it, just loosen enough for it to fall down. It saves wear and tear. Sounded like a great tip to me, so this is what I do. Oh and yes, my photo's are a lot sharper, now that I don't have camera shake from pressing to hard on the shutter release. I can put my 70-200 (4.4lbs) on it and use it with no problem.

I never liked monopod's, and did not want to get one. I really got tired of having soft, blurred picture's, when I hand held my camera, due to camera shake. I broke down and got this one, I'm so-o-o glad that I did. Now, I love it, and carry it with me every place that I take my camera. There are those times when tripod's are not allowed, or you just don't have the space to set one up. I bought a ballhead for it, and put a little pad on the base because, I carry it over my shoulder with camera attached to it. So I have both my monopod and my tripod. I'm very tiny only 5' and 106lbs, no problem with the weight of it. A photographer gave me a tip that is, when extending the legs, only loosen enough for the leg to drop, then tighten, if you loosen too much it can wear the whatever it is called, so I just turn it a tiny bit, drop the leg to where I want it, give a little twist to tighten and away I go.

Very well built, easy extend/retract, best value in a monopod out there, period. Possibly the best purchase you will make this year! Highly recommended!!!

The AP 364 is beefy yet lightweight. It has a foam handle that is comfortable in both warm and cool weather. The release mechanism works with just a slight twist and locks with the reverse motion. The foot on the bottom allows the unit to pivot slightly in any direction. I bought the Manfrotto 234RC as a companion which allows the user to switch from portrait to landscape quickly. The combo is perfect for sports and profides needed support for long shoots. They make a carbon fiber model also but the weight difference is ounces so why pay the money as when in use all the weight is on the ground anyway. I also bought an 055proxb tripod with a grip head which I hardly use at all as this fills most of my needs. The unit comes with a toolkit (hex wrench, allen wrench and spanner which was a nice touch.-Also fits both 1/4 and 3/8 threads. This is the best $40 I spent for photo equipment.

Today I tried to take some photos. And I very happy with this monopod. Excellent! Most important thing that full length of this monopod appx. 175 cm, because I don't like bow down while I'm taking a picture.

The Vanguard Tracker AP-364 Monopod is a sturdy yet lightweight professional support for camera, camcorder or binoculars.
The Monopod stretches to just over 69 inches when fully extended using the twist release locking mechanism and collapses to just around 24 inches for easy transportation.
