The best and easiest to use pan head I have owned. Best for steadiness in photographing very early in the morning when the sun is just barely out and in the evenings when the light is quickly waning. Fantastic for firework display photographs, and for moonscapes in the night, such as the moon reflecting on the ocean or a lake. Some of the best features are the ease of use and movement with the fluid head control and the quick change feature for different cameras without having to turn screws to secure the camera. Panning is smooth and necessary adjustments are swift and secure with steady control of the movement. Have yet to determine whether there are any cons to the pan head, it has worked that good...

I had been looking for a tripod that would allow me to have control of the camera at all times without having to reset the whole assembly every time. This 3 Way Pan Head by Vanguard provides me the versatility to move my camera without having to recheck everything and have to tighten more than 3 locks on the head. This is the easiest two handed unlock, move and lock head I have ever had on a tripod. So far I have no complaints or gripes about it.

I got this as a recommendation from the Adorama sales person and so far it's good. Haven't used a lot yet but it seems like a very good head.

I've been quite happy with this 3 way pan head. It pans smooth and stays tight when needed. I use this with my GF1 when I want to shoot video as well as photos. I've been extremely satisfied with Vanguard products. I own a Vanguard tripod and ball head as well and each one is made of quality materials. Very good value without paying the higher prices of other brands. (I'm not giving 5 stars because I don't know what a top of the line pan head would feel like, that being said, I'm extremely satisfied with this item.)

I purchased this head with an Alta Pro 263AT for use in panoramic and tilt-shift shots. It is smooth and locks up rock solid with minimal pressure. The construction, fit, and finish are immaculate.
