Daniel F : Will this platform work with the Vanguard QS-39 plate? The QS-39 plate is 1 and 5/8 inches wide, so I'm wondering if it will lock into this platform?THEODORE D P : No, the PQ-45 is 2" wideFEDERICO G : Even if it did fit I wouldn't use it. The support benefit of a larger platform outweighs any inconvenience of size or weight of it.FEDERICO G : No, it will not.PERRY H : The only Vanguard plates that work with the PQ-45 head are the QS-45 and the QS-46. The width of the QS-45's rail that slips into the clamp is 2-5/32". The QS-46's is 2-3/16". The QS-39 is too narrow to be used in the PQ-45's clamp.
Shopper : will this hold the arca swiss camera plates?THEODORE D P : No it will notPERRY H : No. It holds the larger Vanguard QS plates. The PQ-45 assembly comes standard on the Vanguard SBH-300 ball mount. The following is from a review of the Vanguard SBH-300 ball mount, which incorporates the larger clamp: "Vanguard clamp and plate (QS-45) are larger than Arca-Swiss style clamp and plate (a consequence of improved clamp safety, but may put some folks off)"Kenneth W : I do not own any arca swift camera plates. All that I use are Manfrotto and Vanguard. I do have a "Custom SLR Plate M-Plate Pro" attached to one of my cameras. That plate is supposed to work with either Manfrotto or Arca. I just tried it on a Vanguard plate adaptor and it will not fit in any way or direction.TOAN T : No, these are wider. These didn't fit manfrotto plates either. Shopper : Will it sit flat on a flat surface?THEODORE D P : Yes it will sit flat on a surface. The screw is recessedQUY T : goodKenneth W : The adaptor plate is a QS-45. This plate will sit absolutely flat on any flat surface. It makes a nice sturdy base for your camera or lens when you want to detach it from the tripod and set it down somewhere. Of course, the PF-2 part of this system is made to attach to a tripod base.TOAN T : It doesn't lay flat. The bottom has two 'protrusion' that is used to store a 3/8-16" and 1/4-20" screw. JEFFREY L : No..the mounting at the base is extruded out...it wont sit flat..KEITH S : I'm assuming you mean will the camera sit flat with QR plate attached? The answer is "yes." In fact, due to the longish plate size, many of the smaller cameras we use actually sit better with the QR plate attached.TIM O : It does NOT sit flat.

Handy quick release

Very handy for creating your own mounts. The holes which are provided for storing the various sized camera mount screws can be used for attaching the plate to your DIY mount.

Good system if you are on a budget.

Fits snug and made of alloy. Good value for the money, but the plate release button sometimes get stuck. Note: This PQ-46 is the same as the PQ-45 except that the release plate is longer in length.
