The Velbon Maxi 347GB Mini Tripod is good for long exposures, stores in airlinecarry-on size bags. But the release plate (sold separately by the way)needs a rubber washer on its underside to allow proper tightening; otherwise it seems to constantly slip loose from the camera.

I use it for long exposures with a general zoom. It will not work well for long telephotos - not sturdy enough. I also have my reservations about the 8 pound spec. The head works well and it's not heavy to carry. What irks me about Velbon in general, is the QB-3 quick release adapter that is being used on this tripod. This is only used on 2 tripod models and about 3 heads - so you are going into a "standard" with limited applications. I also found that Velbon's real product range and website seems badly synchronized. Stuff on the website are not available in stores - either too new or discontinued.

Very cheaply made. I very much doubt if it would be stable enough to support 2lbs.
