Questions & Answers

Kevin O : Hand Bar: there is a small cap that attaches to the arm bar that locks it into place. I cannot find a replacement anywhere... any tips?ALEX A : I assume you mean the handle used to pan and tilt the head. Take the handle to a hardware store and find a bolt that will fit the handle. Also, get a washer to put under the bolt head. You will need a wrench to change settings, but at least you will be able to use the head. Longer-term fix: visit osnusa dot net (the US distributor for Velbon), find the Contact link, and ask them if a replacement part is available.
Billy W : Will this fit my Silk u 7000 tripod?CHARLES E : I'm not familiar with that Slik tripod but I see no reason why it wouldn't fit any standard tripod with a 1/4-20 mounting screw. The panhead is rugged and designed for heavier cameras and would be best suited to a sturdy tripod which doesn't flex or change position as you pan.CHRIS Z : It should, the bottom is a standard 3/4" mount. As long as the sticks to your Silk U 7000 has that, you should be golden.DAVID E : This Panhead was the same as the original one on my tripod. The only thing is if your tripod has a standard fitting it may fit. This is a nice Panhead I use it with my Pentax K3 it holds and allows good positioning even with my 500 mm lens. With the video cam It allows smooth movement that can be adjusted.
CHAD P : Is the handle removable?STEVEN S : Yes the handle is removeable.JOHN L : Yes, just unscrew the handle angle adjusting screw knob completely and remove the handle. Remember to replace the knob on the handle so as not to misplace it!STEVE A : Yes, the handle comes off.REUBEN W : YES, THE HANDLE IS REMOVABLE AND CAN BE USED ON EITHER SIDE.DAVID E : You can remove the handle by unscrew it form the small end and remove it by pulling it out remember to replace the screw onto the handle so you do not loose it. You can also change the angle of the handle by loosen the screw a little to allow it to turn and then move the handle then tighten the screw back up.DAVID K : Yes, there's a screw on the opposite end and it can be removed entirely.VADIM K : Hi, You'll have to bare with me, as I have actually not used the tripod head yet, mainly because I've been doing writing work these last three years rather than production work. I' actually only barely looked in the package to make sure the tripod is there. So I will in the next 48 hours check in on it, but I'm doing a lot of house repair this week so not in house a lot. i will check it out though, and as long as i am able to access this email from you again with the answer question prompts and box I will definitely get an answer to you and your customer. Thanks for your patience~ Vadim KFILIPPO S : Yes.

Great video head for the price

This is used for live/recorded video of a church service; our budget was limited so I opted for this head and was very pleasantly surprised at how smooth it pans/tilts, esp. for the price! If you are needing an affordable video head, get this!

Can't be beat for the price!

This tripod head was purchased for the use of my church in filming our services. As you can imagine, our budget for stuff like this is tight, but we still require quality; this has what we need! While it is not feature rich, what it does, it does well; it pans and tilts smooth! It does have adjustments for the drag, so you can customize it for your camera's weight. It also has separate knobs to lock it in place (separate for pan and tilt).

great value fluid head

It is excellent for the price. I used it on a monopod to shoot video. tilt and pan are fluid and smooth but panning is alittle tough partly because single footing of a monopod. This is the first one I've owned; never tried competitors but this works for me.

Awesome head for the price

I purchased this to attach to a camera slider called the Cinemover. It works great to get smooth sliding shots of whatever I'm filming. It secures to the camera well and it pans and tilts very smoothly. I don't use it that often, so I don't know how well it will hold up in the long run, but I imagine for what I'm using it for, it will be great.

Good features on the cheap

I put this on my Ravelli tripod. The top of the tripod has movement I don't want. I flipped the center pole over and now thhis head mounts without unwanted movement. The head moves smoothly and the attachment is secure and easy, you just push down and the lever secures it. I have not filmed with it yet but will try to post when that happens.

Great head for the price

I purchased this for use on my slider for my video camera. I used it with a Canon 60D and it worked great. I plan on using it with my Sony NX5U soon, and I don't anticipate any problems. My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that the panning and tilting movement is quite stiff, even with the locking screws loosened all the way. But I would imagine that they will loosen up the more I use it. I don't know of any better tripod head for the price.

Great Workhorse Tripod Head

We have had a pair of Velbon tripods with this head for many, many years (10+), and have just now had to replace the heads. We have used them for video cameras of many sizes and shapes, and the heads have always performed very well, with very smooth pans and tilts. The old heads performed so well that I wanted to get something as close as possible to replace them. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that they still made the same head, and eagerly ordered the same model to replace the old ones. Yes, the head is a bit heavy, but it is built very well and performs beautifully for years. The only reason we have had to replace them even now was due to some new, young videographers that did not take proper care of equipment. :(
