As a wildlife/landscape photographer I thought I'd give this lens a go. (I still remember the days of the original, excellent Series 1 lenses.) The lens can be a challenge to focus as it goes from close-focus to infinity in 1/4 turn of the the focusing ring. This is not an action zoom. In order to change the focal length you must turn a locking ring, push/pull the camera and lower lens tube, then re-lock the ring. Not a big deal in landscape but can be a challenge with moving wildlife. At 1300 mm there is about 1/8 inch of play between the mounting tube and the main lens element section. The chromatic aberration is so pronounced that nighttime full moon shots are practically useless. The lens is inexpensive and has some use but be aware of its flaws going in and prepare for post-production corrections.

As a Photographer, I like to say that this lens is not what most think. To use this lens you must understand lighting and manual control of your camera. This is not a auto focus lens. And to get the best results, the use of a good tripod is very important. I used this lens today and I like the results very much. I even shoot a few at night using slow speed settings and the images were pretty good. If you like to photograph wildlife this one will do the job as long as you do it during a bright day. But i encourage you to experiment with it in different lighting situations, that is the best way for you to get to know your equipment and have some fun while doing it.
