Beware WD - didn't get all I paid for

I purchased, and paid for, 2 WD 2TB My Passport hard drives and two My Passport hard cases. I received the hard drives, and they are great. But the shipment did NOT include the hard cases I paid for - and Western Digital has been unwilling to fulfill this order. Customer Service responds with a programmed email demanding photo documentation of the shipment box and packing list.

Dead just after the warranty

Just 15 days after the warranty expired, my WD Passport 2TB hard drive stopped working. It shows a bad sector error, and the data is no longer accessible. Two terabytes of photos and videos-priceless memories of my loved ones-are lost forever and cannot be recovered.

Working fine so far

It took me a little more work than to just plug in and go. I am not that facile with a computer and thought it was working, but when the light wasn't flashing, I saw that I had to do some other steps that weren't on the videos or instructions.

2nd Backup Drive from WD, this one failed within 6 months of use. Warranty had already expired as I had the item for over a year before I first used it.

I like the MyPassport for Mac but ................

I would have given this new one 5 stars if WD had included the USB plug on the end of the cable like they did in a previous version of My Passport for Mac that I purchased. I have purchased several of these WD "solid state" My Passport for Macs. I find them more reliable (in terms of longevity) than WD's "non-solid-state" desktop external drives.

Do not buy

y Passport for my MacBook Pro has been a disaster. It was fine until they decided not to support their software. It was loaded when I registered the HD but it is dead now and I am left with nothing but the reminder that I haven't backed up my computer in over 90 days. I would not recumbent this company, Not with this kind of support or business plan.

Worked for about a year then started failing.

Worked well for the first year, but just failed on me going on 1 and a half years. I never filled it up to 2tb but after a while, it would randomly disconnect from my computer and would be so infuriating. It started making clicking noises and would start freezing. I used it to store photos so you should know how important reliable storage devices are to me.

Leider funktioniert "Acronis Treu Image for Western Digital" unter "MacOS Sonoma" nicht mehr. Es wäre net, wenn man durch ein Update diese enorme Schwäche beheben würde. Unter "Ventura" lief es nach Update dann ja auch. Bitte stellt auch ein Update für Sonoma bereit!

Worst Experience Ever - Security Password rejected

I bought the WD 5TB My Passport? for Mac from Officework in January last year. I've been using it nearly everyday to keep all my important files in this external hard drive in the past 18 months. To my shock the hard drive rejected my password and I have no way to retrieve anything suddenly! Have read through all the support pages in WD website and got the answers about they have no way to recover the encrypted data in the hard drive. The only way is to format it or set a new password but all the data in the drive will gone. There's no constructive solution to help recovering my valuable data and WD just keep their hands off from the problem. Will never buy their products again.

There are better drives out there

Really frustrated with this drive. I literally cannot upload large files (more than 5GBs) to the drive. An error message shows up everytime and does not allow me to upload the file. It's frustrating as a videographer when you need to upload a lot of footage and can't do that. My 5-year-old drive works better than this. I am just praying it doesn't crash because there are many reviews saying its prone to dying. It was cheap tho.

WD Passport 1T for mac

The setup is way too complicated. I literally just need storage. It should be the simplest thing there is. I'm having to download software and share information as if it was Adobe Cloud. I shouldn't need a high level of computer literacy to back up my storage. It's. Just Storage.

Difficult to use on Mac

I had to install WD discovery software and NTFS software to get this drive to work the first, and eventually it did work. About 3 years later I am no longer able to write to this drive. I'm trying to troubleshoot, but it's a pain and I dont have time to do that.

Don't buy this. Mine broke within one year

Inexpensive, and that is about it. I put all my hours of work onto this external hard drive My passport for Mac, and one day it started clicking. Now i am told that all the data is lost. Thousands of hours of my work is gone, or now i have to pay another $800 to get the information back. Don't buy this product. The only thing their support offers you is a new passport. So you are out thousands of hours, and they lose about $15. Sound fair?
