Shopper : What is included in this kit? MartinROB F : It comes with the foldable softbox and a metal rod to connect it to a monoblock (like an alienbee). CATHY P : I would be using a 580 EX ll Canon flash with this soft box. I have and understand that the softbox attaches to an umbrella stand. Would there be a problem with line of site when I use the ST-E2 Canon trigger ?YOUSEF A : You would need to use a radio based trigger with this softbox. ST-E2 would be intermittent. I know that the Nikon CLS won't work with this softbox since the strobe is deep inside the box. You can try angeling the face of the softbox towards the camera but that limits your ability to be creative in the placement of this modifier.ROB F : That would depend on where your camera is facing in relation to the flash. I have tested this with Pocket Wizards and the Cactus Triggers. Line of site triggering is not something I have ever had a lot of success with and have only resorted to it when my triggers were not available. I did set up a test in my living room using my Nikon D700 and an SB-26 set to slave and it fired even when I was behind the flash... but I don't know how effective that would be in a real world scenario.ANDREW R : Unfortunately it appears that mounting a speedlight of any make/model will cause problems with optical triggering gear. Once mounted on an umbrella adapter the flash unit will be encased in the softbox and IR communication with ST-E2 will likely be disrupted.
Shopper : How well did it work? Were you happy with it?EVANGELINE D : Love it. Hard to assemble. The instructions were a bit confusing - can't figure out how the stem (as shown in the picture) works exactly. I attached my SB800 on it. Still highly recommended because the image it produces is excellent especially if paired with the right lighting rig.ROB F : It really does an amazing job. The one issue that I have with this rig is that you have to reach up into the unit to adjust the settings on your flash (if you are shooting manual)... it folds up smaller than my light stand and travels with me everywhere.

Westcott has enhanced the already popular Apollo product line by building the frame with fiberglass ribs. The fiberglass ribs provides added durability for those on-location situations and windy days!

Apollo are constructed using an umbrella frame. No speed rings are needed, just use the umbrella receptacle on your light. Easy opening and closing means easy set-up and takedown. The square or rectangular shape allows you to scrim or control the light more readily. For direct diffusion, position the light facing the white diffuser panel. The light will have a bright center with a soft edge.

The distance of the light to the diffuser panel will govern the brightness of the center of the light. For indirect diffusion, mount the Apollo with the light facing towards the back of the light modifier. With the light in this position, light will bounce off the silver metalized back of the unit and produce a more uniform, softer light.
