Exactly what I was looking for and it appears well made. I use it in my home and it is stationary most of the time, so I am not sure how it would function under more mobile circumstances.

I use this for Westcott uLite with 26" Octabox, a great combo that suits my needs. The stand is sturdy and well made.

I bought this because Adorama was out of their brand of light stands. It is a great lightstand that I am using exclusively for my reflector arm. I got it way cheaper in store too! :)

The mantra 'you get what you pay for' comes to mind with the Westcott photo basics light stand. It does the job, but leaves some to be desired, at least for me. My main complaint about this stand is the NOISY spring mechanism joining the segments of the pole. I get that cringe look (like scraping fingernails against chalk board) when raising/lowering it to adjust flash settings or put it at the right height. Maybe mine is an anomaly, but I'm almost at the point where I am embarrassed to use it in a quiet studio setting. For just messing around with umbrellas and off-camera flash, perfect inexpensive stand. If portable use is what you're after, go for the Manfrotto Nano stand (it's amazing!)

We purchased this product to be used to display a 5'X 3'Banner. We needed something that was easily portable, light weight and very easy to use.

I have several of these for travel and smaller jobs. They fit in small places, and can even hold a heavier flash like a bare alienbee if you are in a jam.

For a cheap light stand it does ok. Most of the time the sections are stuck inside each other and take some force to pull them out to adjust the height. I have [...] stands that work better..

It's a light stand...inexpensive and easy to use. I got this as an "extra" for more flexibility in setting reflectors or umbrella.

I bought this in a kit to be able to hold the reflector, The stand does its job. The hardware on the stand will require some work to get the stand to the point that it will not move when you lock it into position. The stand tends to move even indoors. I your outdoor you better make some improvements to the stand or else all you will have is a weather vane! Stand bags are required, the top where you would connect a reflector are is poor quality the arm fits on the top but the fit is very loose. As I said it came in a kit I got what do you expect in a kit. Save your money and put out some more on a stand that will last a long time.

One thing that surprised me is that each tube is loaded with a spring, so if a tube crashes down the shock is absorbed. It's great for what it is.

This is the first of the Westcott stands that I have ordered but so far this is a great stand for the money. I like the smooth operation of the knobs and it's really light without feeling cheap. I recommend it for someone just getting started with a studio at home.

This is a good stand, and virtually the same as the $40 stand you can get from Alien Bees, but to correct a previous buyer's review, This is not the same stand you get from Alien Bees. The difference is the Alien Bees stand is 10', where as this one is only 7.5', hence the $11 price difference. Other than that, they look the same.

Cant go wrong for the price.. May not last a lifetime but will provide what you need for some time if you treat it with care.

good quality... only have used it once but no complaints very happy with purchase... good solid stand. Springs are a nice option to prevent damage if you loosen and lose your grip on your speedlight/strobe... cushions the shock... good job folks!

For less than [$] this is a good deal. Have a Lastolite Ezybox hotshoe attached and while a bit flimsy, not anything too bad. I would advise a sand bag or something to weight it down if in windy weather but overall a great buy. This is very lightweight and easy to use, can be assembled and disassembled in a matter of seconds and works great for what it costs.

I have had this product for less than two months and it's already broke. The inserts between the lock knobs, and the riser poles are made of soft plastic. After 6 shoots my stand will not hold a Pentax speedlight up.

As I'm just breaking back into photography after a several year sabbatical, I needed good gear at a good price. You can spend much more and get the same results as with these durable enough, lightweight stands. Use caution when lowering the stand with equipment mounted on top as it come down in a hurry. Also, for extended spring life within the tube, don't completely collapse the stand when storing for extended periods.

I purchased this light stand to hold a reflector I own and two stands with a set of Alien Bees lights. They arrived on the same day and to my surprise this is the exact same stand as from alien bees only this one was $10 cheaper.

Great little stand
By JULIE A.
I have been using these stands for 2 years now. I use them with Nikon SB-800 speedlights and Westcott 32" Satin White umbrellas. This arrangment is very quick and easy to set up and tear down and that is very important for me in doing wedding photography. I need to be able to react quickly to the rapid pace of each wedding day. I now have 3 of the stands - one for a key light, one for a fill light and one for a back light. The best part of all is this arrangement provides a very nice qua...

This was the Light Stand I Needed
By KATHRYN N.
Exactly what I was looking for and it appears well made. I use it in my home and it is stationary most of the time, so I am not sure how it would function under more mobile circumstances.
This Photo Basics Light Stand is lightweight, black aluminum, with sure-twist section locks. It is an ideal stand for a travel kit with small light fixtures
