We have this printer and i believe we average about 10,000 pages per printer per week in one of our areas during the beginning of school and each finals week. There are a total of 6 printers and the never go down. So glad we switched from you know who to Xerox in our lab.

Phaser 5550 died within one year and Xerox won't do anything about it
We purchased a Xerox Phaser 5550 and just after a year it stopped working. We paid hundreds of dollars to a Xerox certfied technician to repair it and ultimately was told by Xerox that it was not repairable and basically trash. We had not even changed the toner cartridge in this printer yet as it had very little prints on it when it died. I am extremely dissatisfied with how Xerox handled our concerns and complaints and will NEVER purchase a Xerox printer again!

We have had this printer for a long time and it continues to produce good copies.
Duplexing works well on this machine, but only if you use a high quality paper. You can't get away with the 20 lb copy paper, especially not if it's recycled. On my machine the duplexer tends to jam after two or three pages. This machine does a great job on cardstock, and can easily accept a higher weight sheet through the multi-purpose tray. Use the real Xerox toner cartridges, or you won't get adhesion on letterhead, bond, or cardstock.
product is fine, product is fine
This is a great printer - we use this mainly for printing large documents. The quality is much better than my previous HP printer. I would definitely recommend this product.
This printer has major problems with it's 64 and 32 bit drivers. Works best with Windows XP but if you go to anything newer forget about printing to extra trays or an envelope tray. If you have a mixed network you may as well forget about printing to network programs which are set to print to set trays.
I love that it doesn't require as much ink as the other laser printers I have in the office.
It was super easy to install, I think that is a deal maker for some users.
not to fast has the old one good tech imporvements good quality for photos good option for brochures
We use the Xerox 5550 in our data center as a production printer. It is very fast and reliable. Would recommend to anyone that has large print volumes.
Our company bought this printer in November of 2011 to replace an a printer we were having problems with jamming. Little did we know that we were going to be having the same problem with the new printer. Since day one, this printer has jammed whenever any document is printed double sided. It will feed about 8 pages through and then get jammed. Since November, it has been nothing but a headache. What's worse is trying to get Xerox to do anything to fix it. The printer is still under warranty but it's impossible to get them to send anyone out here to fix it. Their idea of fixing the problem is by making sure the paper tray settings are set to "plain paper". So basically, if you're looking for a printer and you do need to printer double sided, this a great printer. But if you need your documents printed double sided, look some where else.
