Yamaha YST-SW315 Features

  • Advanced Active Servo Technology: Yamaha's Advanced Active Servo Technology is a complementary amplifier/speaker system utilizing negative impedance feedback in the amp and a Helmholtz resonator in the speaker to provide strong and accurate bass.
  • 10" Driver And 250 Watt PWM Amplifier: High amplifier power assures enough power to deliver shattering movie theater-like bass effects, and the down firing 10-inch long stroke cone driver translates the power into clear bass sound.
  • BASS Selector: Yamaha's BASS (Bass Action Selector Switch) tailors the sub's output for video or music at the touch of a switch.
  • Yamaha QD-Bass Technology: A Yamaha technology that uses a down firing driver to radiate the bass output more efficiently. Sound is radiated in all directions for greater impact.
  • Magnetic Shielding: The subwoofer is magnetically shielded so it can be placed near a TV monitor or receiver without degrading the picture.
  • Continuously Variable High-Cut Filter: The user adjustable continuously variable high-cut filter sets the highest frequency the subwoofer will deliver. It can be set anywhere from 40 to 140 Hz.
  • Volume Control: The volume control permits the perfect matching of the sub's output to the overall volume of the system.
  • Signal Sensing ON/OFF: For convenience, the YST-SW315 has a signal sensing circuit. When the subwoofer detects an audio signal, it turns its power on. When it senses no signal for several minutes, it shuts itself off.
  • Phase Normal/Reverse Switch
  • Makes it easy to phase the subwoofer with the other speakers in your system.
  • Dual Inputs: Two sets of inputs allow the versatile subwoofer to accept either line level or speaker level input signals.
  • Heavy Duty Speaker Terminal: Yamaha's three-way speaker terminals accept banana plug and a variety of other connectors, as well as speaker wire.
  • Black Ash Finish: Handsome black ash finish blends in with room decor and complements many furnishing styles.
  • Rigid Cabinet construction: The YST-SW315's cabinet is constructed of thick MDF to increase rigidity and reduce vibration and resonance.

Best Sub I have ever owned!

I replaced a home theater woofer that was starting to make noises, (pops, static) when there was no bass freqs present. Tried to fix, no go. This Yamaha put that old one to shame! Why didn't I have this years ago? The bass sounds are powerful, but not overwhelming, clear and distinct, makes all booms, gunshots, and music sound like you are right there! The Yamaha has a non-intrusive design that hides itself when the lights are dimmed, but from the sounds, you know it is still there! It's like...

That convinced me of their build quality and sound quality. I was very happy to find this one for my home. You too will be happy with your Yamaha speakers of any kind. Thanks Yamaha!! Please keep up the good work because I will be back!

More Bass Than Expected

By

from Clinton, MD  -  Sports Nut

The unit looks good even though I have it hidden behind a couch. The bass response was much more than we expected. It was a great addition to our Yamaha home theater system.

Yamaha's top of the line sub delivers!

By

from Fremont, CA  -  Movie Enthusiast

I bought this unit to replace my 7 year old SW215. I have it connected to a Yamaha Aventage A720, and I use it for movies, music and video games (PS3). The bass that comes out of this sub is rich, deep and immersive. I can hear no distortion even at high volumes. The 10" down firing driver on this sub really delivers. I like the fact that you can fine tune the cross-over frequency, the volume and that it has two thresholds of stand-by power. It looks beautiful and it is very well built.

Fantastic Sound!!

By

from Greensboro,NC  -  Movie Enthusiast

I purchased one for my living room which has an oblong shape. The subwoofer worked perfectly, delivering deep resonating bass.I was so impressed with it's performance,I bought another putting it on the other side of my living room.I connected them to my receiver per the instructions, and they work perfectly. The standby/on feature turns them on simultaneously, every time!I have known of Yamaha quality products for years and I was not disappointed!!I am also impressed with the piano finish, which matches any decor.

Incredible sound and response, unfortunately, you have to keep it turned up high so it doesn't lose connection.

Very nice sub, perfect for my system

By

from NY

After installing I watched a movie and was really impressed with the sound affects. I couldn't move from my seat I was so involved with the sound. Bass was blowing me away. Increases movie enjoyment 10 times. The bass will have to be set up with the front controls, very easy. I only use two settings with both volume and frequency. For movies I use a higher volume and bass setting, and for music I set both lower. For best performance and incredible sound, Set up the bass just a little higher then the lowest frequency of your front main speakers. For example if your speakers are rated at the low of 38hz, set between 45 and 60. Use your ears for best results. It took me about 10 minutes. I love it. It sounds good at both low and high volumes. I'm just a regular person with high expectations on sound quality, with finical common sense. Shop around, take your time and you will enjoy for a very long time. Don't buy on impulse. I know its tempting, but, do you homework. I do recommend this sub and I'm very happy with the sound.
