Not much more to say about this lens that hasn't been said before, just an amazing lens, love everything about it. The bokeh is beautiful, not just good for macro photography it has many good uses, sneaking up on birds is pretty fun too, very sharp lens and can also be used for portraits if you like but it may be a little too sharp for that. If you have a tripod it's uses are pretty much unlimited, wedding details, indoor product shots and so on.

This, like most Zeiss lens, is a great lens. I've used zeiss lens on Contax, Hassy, and Sony Cameras. When used correctly, it's awesome. It can produce razor sharp images, with perfect color and contrast. It is a macro lens of unmatched preformance. The bokeh is perfect. The images are clear and nearly always perfect. There is little to no distortion. But there is a price to be paid. First, the lens is expensive. In fact, it will probably cost more than the DSLR your mounting it too. But, Good glass costs more, and this is one of the best. The other "problem" is you need a certain amount of knowledge and experience to use it. What I mean is, you have to be able to truly understand exposure, and manual photography. This is a manual focus lens (but most great macro photographers will tell you to manual focus anyway). But you can't use your cameras "auto everything" capabilities. You have to set your camera to manual, or if your lucky to aperture priority. You have to meter with either Manual or Center weighted. In essence, you have to understand the basic of photograpy! You have to understand exposure, and how to manipulate light. So No more autofocus. No setting the camera to "auto", and just blindly hitting the fire button. This is pro grade lens. It demands your attention. But, in return It will outpreform any other macro - when used correctly. It's a great lens, and if you know what your doing, a fun lens. But it isn't for everyone. In fact, it's probably not for most photographers. And that's really too bad
