I have two 50mm lenses for my m3. This and a sonnar. They compliment each other well. This one is razor sharp. I use this one for anything except portraits.

Mine was a used copy in perfect condition as advertised. I have put it to work so far as a short portrait lens on my Sony NEX-7, with excellent results, and plan to use it soon as a walk around lens on a Sony full frame. This 50mm has the characteristic Zeiss richness of color and 3D rendering that I find magical. I also appreciate its small form factor, particularly when shooting candids and street photos. Manual focus engages you in the image in different ways than auto. And often it's faster. Try it, you won't miss the bulky autofocus lenses.

Use this lens on a Sony NEX-7 with outstanding results. Built like a tank, silky-smooth bokeh, sharp as a tack. I've owned 3 Zeiss lenses and they consistently produce the images I find most appealing.

This lens is excellent. Sharp, contrasty, clean. I have 2 vintage Rolleis with zeiss glass. I use this on an M6 and M-E.

My first lens for a Leica M9 and I was asstounded by the contrast and the saturation of colours using this lens. I used this lens until I bought a 35mm summicron then moved back to the 50mm Zeiss Zm as the color and 3d pop to photos was much better with the Zeiss. The only real complaint is that the lens cap is very poorly designed. The Knurl on the tabs goes the "wrong way" so you drop it almost every time you try to put it on the lens after use. A minor complaint is that the filter size is non standard. I wish every Leica lens was as good as this beauty which considering is a bargin.

This is an amazing little gem. This lens is lightweight, super sharp, built well, focuses well, and flare proof. This is the most often used lens on my Zeiss Ikon. I haven't realized how good this lens was until I used my Nikon 50mm f/1.8 on my D90. The Zeiss made the Nikon look like a toy. It was blurry, compared to the Zeiss, and had tons of internal reflections which really degraded the photos. If you have an M mount camera, then you deserve to own this lens. At its low price do yourself a favor and order one now.

I got this lens for my Leica M6 because I've had a version of this lens for all my other cameras, Contax RTS3, Contax G2, Hassy 500cm, and my Nikon D300. This lens style (50mm planar T) has never failed me. I sell Nikon camera and lens for a living, and I am a closet Zeiss shooter.

Become an expert in capturing the world through the lens of the 50mm f/2.0 Planar T* ZM Lens for Leica M, Silver. This lens, inspired by the perspective of the human eye, sets a new standard for M-bayonet lenses. It's built on the esteemed Carl Zeiss Planar design, a harmonious blend of six optical elements in four groups.
This lens boasts superior resolving power, delivering high image quality across the entire field. Its exceptional flare control ensures crisp, brilliant images, making it an ideal choice for all-round photography, documentation, and photojournalism.
The M-mount design, embraced by passionate 35mm photographers for over half a century, offers a unique advantage - more space. Without the need for a moving reflex mirror and drive mechanism, the distance between the last lens element and the film is significantly reduced. This allows for the creation of superior lens types, including high-performing wide-angle lenses.
Our lens designers have relished the opportunity to develop the Carl Zeiss family of T* ZM-mount lenses. They've pursued perfection in lens performance, leveraging our uncompromising symmetric lens designs. The result is a range of the most advanced M-mount lenses ever made.
The Carl Zeiss range of T* ZM-mount lenses are designed to offer the highest standards in performance, reliability, and image quality. They feature virtually zero geometric distortion, ensuring precise accuracy when reproducing shapes - a feature particularly useful when photographing products and architecture.
These lenses are specifically designed to minimize focus shift with aperture changes, an important innovation with significant benefits for rangefinder photography. The precise 10-blade aperture with 1/3 stop interval click stops ensures exact exposure. For reliable performance, the Carl Zeiss T* ZM-mount lenses are designed with a wear-resistant filter mount and an extremely accurate rangefinder coupling mechanism.
Experience the beauty of photography with the 50mm f/2.0 Planar T* ZM Lens for Leica M, Silver. It's not just a lens, it's a commitment to superior quality and performance.
