Adorama is an incredible company . They never fail to have the products I require. On occasions I have had to call customer service, there always helpful. Over the last several years I have been using Adorama Flash Point products I find them a professional grade and very affordable. Shipments to my doorstep have always been prompt. You can't go wrong with Adorama. Adorama is five star.

Having owned the Zoom H1 and older Tascam models, this was a move up in my field recording game. Not without its faults but the H5 is a solid recording device that I always have with me. For the money and flexibility of options, I do think this is a solid choice and am very happy with my H5. Just know what it can do well and plan around what I consider to be fairly minor limitations. I have since picked up a second H5 for my drop rig recordings. Pros: Easy to use Long battery life Interchangeable capsules 2 XLR inputs Ability to use mics with 3.5mm connection via the XY capsule Generally great results with proper levels and knowing its limitations Cons: noise can be present in quiet ambient recordings (not detrimental but can be noticeable). 32GB SD card limitation - generally not an issue but for drop rig field recordings that can last a few days (via external battery pack), you might want to keep this in mind.

I am really happy with the sound quality and options offered by this system. The interface and menu are clear and easy to use. I can use the microphone the unit comes with and also plug in two other microphones via XLR. I like that I can slide the microphone off to when I am not using it. It's nice to have the option to make the unit lighter and smaller when that microphone is not in use.

I thought about getting the H5 for a long time. Now that I finally purchased it and used it, I don't know why I took so long. The quality of sound captured with the H5 using the X/Y mic as well as the shotgun mic simply blew me away. I am no sound engineer and there are some features I probably will not use, however, I am quite happy with the H5 and heartily recommend it to anyone needing a quality portable recorder.

I have used the H4N a few years ago, and I was so impressed with the sound quality, and the added dimension it added to my video productions, when it came time to buy another audio capture tool, I figured I would try the H5. I am still blown away by the sound quality, and the multi-track recording, and also the over-dubbing! Highly recommended for anyone from beginner to professional.

When I first took the Zoom H5 out of the included hard shell case all I could say is "WOW" this thing feel fantastic in your hand. They gave it a slight curve to improve ergonomics compared to the standard square shape of most recorders. The build quality is Amazing. This thing feels very solid. It's mostly made of plastic that is covered in a soft touch rubber type coating that is very nice. The microphone capsule is made out of metal as well as the guard bars over the gain adjustment dials. The Zoom H5 is a recorder that has a very simple design and menu setup that I really like. It's easy to pick up and work with from the start without having to go into the manual to figure out how to do what you want. Zoom really took their time to design the recorder. I love the manual dials to adjust the gain input. They are a huge improvement over other recorders where you have to click buttons. No only is the adjustment silent without "click" noises you can also adjust the levels much faster and you can visually see what you are currently set at. Along with that you also have separate dials for your different inputs. Zoom also added a line output to go along with a headphone jack so you can monitor the audio and output it to your camera at the same time. Another great feature is the ability to input a line level in without a separate line signal adjustment. This is the second recorder to use the new capsule system that allows you to expand the recorder. They have a shotgun mic, extra xlr inputs, and other capsules. Basically this thing rocks! If you want to see more details with full menu/feature walk through along with audio quality tests/comparison check out my video review / comparisons on YouTube. Just search " Zoom H5 Max Yuryev " and it should come up!
