Reflectors are available in many forms but my favorite is the circular, collapsible types that are easy to carry.
Flashpoint’s Circular Collapsible Disc Reflector, Silver/Soft Gold can cost less than seventeen bucks and is made from high-quality, fade-resistant materials with heavy stitching.
Silver & gold: The soft gold side not only reflects light but warms your subject removing a blue color cast created when photographing in the shade. The silver side provides a snappy light and is used to open shadows and create detail. Both sides work equally well for fashion, portraits, even still lifes! This reflector is available in several sizes, from 22 inches up to the super-sized 42-inch model.
The Flashpoint 5-in-1 Collapsible Disc Reflector may cost a little more, but it does more too. The basic reflector is covered in translucent material that’s ideal for removing hot spots from a portrait subject’s face or just diffusing light if it’s too strong. The other part of the kit is a four-sided (it’s reversible) skin for reducing contrast, warming skin tones, eliminating shadows or just softening light. One way the fabric has a silver side with zebra (a patterned mix of silver and gold) on the back; turn it inside out and have access to a gold or white surface for soft reflected light.
Multitalented disc: The Flashpoint 5-in-1 Collapsible Disc Reflector is available in three sizes: The 22-inch size is perfect for head shots or close-ups of flowers while the 32-inch model size is useful in ¾ length portraits photography and even outdoor portraits of couples. The 42-inch model is handy for groups of three. Depending on your specific photographic requirements, you may need all three of ‘em.
