Digital Photography One on One

In this episode Mark Wallace discusses how different sources of light affect the colors of your photographs. Mark explains color temperature and white balance, and demonstrates how you can get the most accurate color in your images.

What are Kelvin temperatures, and what do they have to do with the overall color hue of your photos? Mark goes over the basics of color temperature, and how to fix your pictures' white balance for the most accurate color on the most possible DSLRs.

Watch as Mark demonstrates white balance under typical incandescent light. Once you've viewed this vid, white balance should be a piece of cake.

And now, on with the show!

One small issue

Great video and Adorama always does a great job. It should be noted that there is no such thing as "degrees Kelvin" as the word "degrees" means there is no absolute zero point (like F and C). The term is simply "kelvin." This is because the kelvin scale is absolute and the zero point (-273.15 degrees C) is the point at which all matter has no kinetic energy (which is actually what temperature is measuring). It does not affect the techniques described here but educational videos should try to use the most accurate terminology possible. Thanks!
