An inside look at the Photo Compound

By Mason Resnick

February 5, 2010

We offer a place where busy sports shooters can take a breather and get general support while covering the Super Bowl.

To get press photographer access to the Super Bowl, you have to be among the top sports shooters in the world. You need to earn it.

What's it like to cover the Super Bowl as a professional photographer? Well, if you're a credentialled shooter, you will likely spend some time in the Photo Compound.

The Photo Compound, located right outside Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida, consists of trailers with workstations for editors at Sports Illustrated, Getty Images, the Associated Press, Thomson Reuters News Features, UPI, EPA (European Press Agency). Images are gone through, prepped and transmitted from these trailers. There are also trailers for the city newspapers from the Super Bowl teams' hometowns, such as the Inianapolis Star and Times-Picayune.

And then there's the Adorama Lounge. The Adorama lounge is a place where photographers can get general support from Adorama Pro Services Account Executive Jeffrey Snyder, or just take a few minutes to cool off and take a breather in a comfortable setting. Because in addition to earning photographer access to the Super Bowl, even the world's top pro sports shooters need a break.

Here are some images Jeffrey shot of the compound and around the stadium as the press begins to arrive. More photos coming soon!
