100,000 dedicated photographers can’t be wrong

By Mason Resnick

November 6, 2009

I have just joined the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP). Here’s why you may want to if you haven’t already done so…and an important announcement.

I finally did it, and now that I did, I don’t know why I waited so long. I’ve joined the National Association of Photoshop Professionals, a conglomerate that is changing the face of professional photography. From Photoshop User magazine to a live Help Desk to camera reviews to countless tips and tricks (kind of like the Adorama Learning Center, but more specifically targeted to Adobe Photoshop users), NAPP membership brings with it invaluable tools.

NAPP is an international organization dedicated to digital photography, especially to helping photographers become more adept at working on images on their computers in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. But it’s become much more than that. With over 100,000 members and growing rapidly, NAPP offers members many benefits, from Layers and Photoshop User magazines to a bevy of online educational resources.

The skills you can pick up just by browsing NAPP’s web site, Photoshopuser.com, will quickly make the $99 annual membership fee a worthwhile investment. It’s filled with all kinds of tutorials, quick video tips, and numerous Photoshop shortcuts. It’s a time-saver and knowledge-builder. Each month NAPP members can take an online video course from KelbyTraining.com, which can feature Scott Kelby, Joe McNally or some other luminary of the photo workshop circuit.

In fact, as I’m writing this, I’m also multitasking, watching Joe McNally’s series of videos on using small flashes. Good stuff! Joe's coming to New York next week to present a lighting workshop  next Thursday at the Javits center, sponsored by NAPP. I'm told over 1,000 people will be attending.

NAPP is intricately tied in with Scott Kelby, its President. Scott’s all over the place. He’s the editor of Photoshop User and Layers magazines, has written dozens of books and, approximately, zillions of instructional DVDs, and has been traveling all around the country giving workshops to packed houses of literally hundreds of professional photographers and dedicated enthusiasts attending each one. In the world of photography, the dude’s a rock star.

And now, the Important Announcement

As you can see, I’m really impressed with NAPP, and the photography juggernaut that Scott Kelby has created. So is Adorama Management. That’s why Adorama is thrilled to offer NAPP members free UPS ground shipping on all orders within the continental US. We will also be posting “NAPP Members-Only” specials on the “Discounts for NAPP Members” page on Photoshopuser.com.

So, to NAPP members, I say, welcome to the Adorama family! And for those of you who, like me, have waited in the wings, I highly recommend joining NAPP. The benefits and information you will learn will make it worth your while.

Hooray!

Thanks, Adorama, for extending this benefit to NAPP members. This will both encourage me to rewnew my [recently lapsed :-( ] NAPP membership *and* encourage me to "come back to Adorama" for my photo equipment orders.
