Great UPS very new Mfg and battery date! I am very satisfied with this product and I use PowerChute Business Edition to monitor it and the computer it is hooked to. I won't go into all the tech reasons to but this line of UPS but needless to say APC recommends this line over others and it is the best. Don't go on the cheap nd buy an inferior product from another vendor, or even from a different APC Line.

Love these little guys, just wish they had the network card pre-installed. These are pretty much our bread and butter, cheap, powerful and reasonably reliable. Cant complain

I upgraded from my old UPS to a smart UPS model SMT1000. I was extremely happy with my previous APC UPSs and I am equally happy with the new hardware. The replacement program allowed me to recycle my old UPS and get a discount on the new UPS. It turned out that my computer required a real sine wave so that narrowed the UPS models that were appropriate. Thank you to the gentleman who mentioned this in his review. Installation of the hardware was fast and easy. The documentation is very sparse, but technical support for sales and installation was outstanding. Since I only have one computer (with Windows XP Prof), I only needed to install the PowerChute Agent. Installation of the PowerChute 9.0 software was very problematic. The SmartUPS technical support staff, at this stage, were always knowledgeable, polite and logical. Unfortunately all our extensive efforts were in vain, until a new version (9.1) was available on the APC website. Once installed PowerChute 9.1 UPS setup was straightforward, but again the documentation was sparse. Once I was setup, I wanted to test my hardware with a scheduled shutdown. The shutdown worked well, but the CPU would turn on and immediately turn off, instead of staying on and returning to its previous state. With two minor exceptions, technical support quality remained high, but I was eventually told that I would have to restart my computer manually on every controlled shutdown. I was eventually able to fix the problem by changing the BIOS settings. Overall, I am impressed with the quality of the hardware, and now the controlled shutdown and reboot of my hardware works perfectly.

The product works like a charm and all of the features and the added software are a real plus. I purchased this unit to replace a smaller one. I purchased a new computer for my wife which is a real speed demon without replacing the UPS. Big Mistake. The new computer is power hungry and the old UPS couldn't provide enough power. Every time there would be a spike, surge or a brief power interruption the CPU would shut down. I tried several times to "solve" the problem by removing more and more items plugged into the UPS. The results never changed. Eventually I had only the CPU plugged into the UPS with still the same results. Finally, I did what I should have done in the first place, calculated the wattage requirements of the CPU and the peripherals that I wanted to be covered by battery backup. I allowed a 15% safety factor and ordered the APC Smart-UPS 1000VA LCD 120V. It laughs at spikes, surges, power drops and failures and allows me a minimum of 30 minutes of uninterrupted power during power failures. Living in north Florida these things are a fact of life, particularly during the hurricane season.

It was great that I ordered this product, because a couple of days after I installed the product, the Florida weather changed to lighting in the afternoons. The APC Smart-UPS 1000VA LCD 120V saved my old computers ... :) Kudos .... Thanks.

I have never had an APC UPS that was noisy until now. If there was no loud hum I would have given it 5 stars.

Took advantage of the Tradeup program. Unit would did not work after initial install. Rep was very helpful and courteous. Turns out a wire had come loose during shipping.

Ordered the SMT1000 and the display was inoperable out of the box. Waiting for a replacement from the local dealer. Was thinking about upgrading all my units to the SMT series, but will have to reevaluate.

I received the UPS about a month ago. Very quick to setup and connect to my new PC with the USB cable and the software that runs fine in Windows 7. Works as advertised and met my new PC's requirement for a 3 ms switch over. Multiple tests of the UPS and my new Dell Studio 9000 PC does not even see a blip in the power and stays on. 4.5 stars as the unit has a cooling fan, which keeps the unit cool, however it is noisey and with the unit under my desk I hear the cooling fan cycle on and off. With a quieter cooling fan this unit would be 5 stars.
