These are sweet.

I rolled the dice on these because I usually buy good headphones used, but when these are on sale, it's worth it to buy new. Sound: Absolutely wonderful with the cipher cable. There is an immediacy with the sound compared to the more laid back, but equally detailed sound of the HIFIMan 400i. The 400i is a more comfortable headphone, but man, the sound on these is addictive. These don't have the kind of open, airy soundstage that the 400i has, but again, the sound quality and punchy, lively sound really is a treat. I tried the headphone without the cipher cable and it's still good, but Audeze tuned the DAC/AMP in the cipher cable really well to give the headphones the sound they have. The built in EQ is really good and very easy to get what you're wanting more of. Kind of like the way THX car systems keep you out of trouble and from clipping the sound, it seems like Audeze gave that characteristic to the EQ. I also like how EQ settings stay with the DAC/AMP cipher cable, so when I switch to listening on the ipad, the settings come with me and are not married to the device. Sorry for sounding like a damn ad, but these really are solid headphones despite the on ear/comfort issues you might have. They're not the most comfortable, but they're not awful either, and the tradeoff in value and sound quality is worth it. Highly recommended with the Cipher cable!

A real Audiophile headphones

The best headphones ever head for audiophiles and I have quite a few. I have connected them To an A&K KANN player and the sound great much more than my sennhiser momentum, my beyerdynamic DT770, DT1770, DT990, custom, AKG AK712 and the list goes on. I finally found my favorite headphones which are satisfactory to my taste.

Poor sound on iPhone and uncomfortable fit

Poor sound on iPhone 7 (the reason why I bought it). Just ended up being soft, despite supposedly containing an amp. My good ole $60 Sennheisers sounded better. Very uncomfortable fit, couldn't wear for longer than 10 minutes. Also glitched out on me a couple of times, made a wry loud squealing noise for a couple of minutes in the right earphone, or sometimes no sound at all. Overall was a very poor experience, not at all worth the high price. I'll stick with my old cheap headphones.

Really good headphones!

I really like these headphones. I can hear all of the nuance in the tracks and they have a great sound. The ear pads are comfortable for about an hour and a half before they start to hurt. I would compare these favorably to my Sennheiser 580 and 600s, Telefunken, Grado, Klipsch, Sony and Beats. The newer technology doesn't cost much in the tonal quality and they have more resonance. They help you separate your good music from your mp3s. I had to upgrade my Apple library to make the music acceptable for these!

quality full range yet compact planar magnetic head phones

I love planar magnetic speakers like Magnepan and headphones like my hifiman he-500 so I expected to like these. the audeze sine headphones have amazingly broad response, very low and high, very quick. build quality and design is awesome. the closed on ear sine approach is not as "airy" as the hifiman he-500 but they are much more compact and cost me ($) less. they also would not bother the person next to you. I tested them with players and formats of greater resolution than CD, not my iphone or ipad as yet so I could only speculate on the lightning cable with built in DAC. nice to have extra cable with typical format.

this deal was too good to pass up

I have more experience reading reviews of headphone as opposed to listening to a lot of them. However, this deal was too good to pass up....given the reviews. They would only be better if they were wireless. I have a Woo Wa7 tube amp/dac and nothing has ever sounded better....from my otherwise not so audiophile system.

World's First On-Ear Planar Magnetic Headphone
SINE headphones, with AUDEZE's planar magnetic technology, are the next step up in sound quality for many listeners. Instead of using ordinary dynamic drivers, planar technology gives you a sound that's punchy, dynamic and detailed. In fact, it sounds like a much larger headphone! It's lightweight and folds flat for easy travelling. Once again, Audeze has called upon their strategic partner BMW DesignWorksUSA for the industrial design and they manufacture SINE headphones in the USA at their Southern California factory. The 80 x 70mm planar magnetic driver has more than 3x the surface area of any on-ear headphone in its class. More surface area means they can move more air, which means better bass and dynamics.

• Planar magnetic drivers for better dynamics and frequency response
• Premium leather for style and durability
• Sleek contemporary design by DesignWorksUSA a BMW group company
• Light weight and folds flat for ultimate portability
• Fazor elements
• Fluxor magnetic arrays
• Uniforce diaphragms
