Purchased this cart in July of 2014 and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this cart! Sounds amazing and tracks very well, even with my wide grooved 12" dance singles! Bass is solid and accurate and the eq is on point across the full spectrum. Highs and mids are crisp, yet not harsh. Reproduction is quite accurate using both my Parasound and NAD MC preamps. As a plus, it does not "cut" or "shave" my polystyrene 45's! So great to be able to play them and enjoy the full sound spectrum without worry of wear! (Still suggest manual cueing of those styrene discs!) Highly recommended!

My set is aged but good: Denon DP-62L turntable, NAD 7000 receiver with integrated MM/MC phono preamp, and Klipsch Forte I speakers, all bought new. I noticed even after a stylus change that my Audio Technica AT-160/ML MM cartridge was failing so I replaced it with the OC9/III MC. Very impressed. I played many tracks of great familiarity aurally on the same German pressings from the early 80's for comparative purposes. I thought at first that the pipe organ opening to Your Time is Gonna Come by Led Zep was mushy, maybe owing to less channel separation that the 160, but when I focus I realized that there was music there I had simply never heard before. Richer, lusher, and deeper, particularly in the lower mids and lows, the OC9/III turned many old LP friends into fresh, new acquaintances. The soundstage and presence is open and airy but not brittle or tinny, and though there is background there during times of musical silence, I can sure say that I vastly prefer this to the sterility I find on my CD versions of the same tracks. Very well done Audio Technica - down to keeping the box cartridges come in virtually unchanged in 40 years.

The Audio-Technica AT-OC9/III MicroCoil Phonograph Cartridge features a special line contact stylus embedded into a low-profile solid boron cantilever, ensuring the music signals read by the tip of the stylus are transmitted reliably to the coils. The cartridge's "VC mold" design ensures stability and rigidity while the dual moving coil offers excellent stereo separation and improved frequency response for long-lasting performance. The use of PCOCC wire (Pure Copper by Ohno Continuous Casting), a special copper with virtually no transverse crystal barriers to impede signal transmission, perfects the performance of the advanced dual coil design.
