GReat product

My wife is an avid birder and she need a good tripod for her spotting scope. This really fit the bill. She loves the light weight, but strenght of this tripod. I would definitely recommend it to any birder looking for a tripod.

I love this tripod.

I use this tripod mostly for landscape shots. It's light to carrie, unfolds easy, quick to set up. I have a manfrotto ball head with quick release clamp that I mount on it. It's a perfect set up for my Pentax K-5 and lens. If your camera and lens is under 11lbs then this is the tripod for you. Buy it, the price is right.

Great, but not what I thought

After watching one of the very helpful Adorama videos on tripods, I decided to go with a Manfrotto. I was interested in the feature where the center piece could be turned to a 90 degree angle, to get shots parallel from above a table. After a call to Adorama, I understood that this tripod had this capability. Sadly, it does not. Having said that, I've decided to keep this tripod anyway. The tripod is sturdy and lightweight, with excellent construction.

Light and sturdy

This is a wonderful general purpose tripod. The range in height makes it perfect for outdoor/nature photography because it gives you the ability to shoot everything between stable macros to pin-sharp landscapes. The light weight makes this easy to take along on hikes or vacation.

Great Value

Very light. Great for hiking. Maybe 4-section would be a little smaller.

Great tripod

very easy to carry when it is open or folded because of its weight. It can handle my Panasonic DVX100 easily.

Great lightweight tripod

In brief, I consider it a great value for anyone who needs a really good tripod in it's size/weight class. It's great for interior work: light weight, easy to setup and breakdown, easy to handle in tight spaces, and quiet (keeps clients more at ease). Also, apart from light weight and ease of handling, CF is by nature less likely to damage anything it might bump into than aluminum, so in both handling and material it's much safer to use in clients' homes than the old B/M 3221 I was using. Apart from that, stability is much better than I expected from such a light and compact tripod - with the center post down it is more rigid than my old 3221 (both with legs fully extended) - more than adequate for wide angle to medium teles though it's obviously not designed for long-lens wildlife photography! The leg locks are excellent, the leg angle releases are really smooth and easy, but there is no provision to adequately secure the little plastic leg lock adjustment wrench to the tripod. (And no, I don't work for Bogen, I'm just a very satisfied owner!)

In 2007 the Manfrotto 190X received the TIPA award for Best Accessory on the market, while the 190XPROB won The Editor's Choice award from American Photo. Manfrotto was so proud to receive these awards, but they didn't want to stop there. Manfrotto has taken this already amazing tripod to the next level. Manfrotto presents a New Generation of tripods to the carbon fiber tripod world, extremely light weight with, incredible performance, fast and easy to use combining incredibly light, high quality materials (100% Carbon Fiber Tubes, Magnesium and aluminum die castings) a revolutionary patented center column mechanism (Q90°, Quick Center Column System), and innovative design.

The 190CXPRO3 and the 190CXPRO4 represent three section and four section versions of the PRO tripods. These PRO versions have the patented quick center column system that now uses a tri-faceted 100% full carbon fiber tube, magnesium die castings and magnesium top plate with an integrated leveling bubble.

190CX3
The 190CX also comes in a simpler version called the 190CX3. This three section tripod also uses 100% carbon fiber tubes; however, it features the traditional aluminum center column without the quick center column system.
