Either 5.1 is seldom used or these speakers are incorrectly calibrated. I had to use another reviewer's suggestion of placing 4 kitchen towels over the speakers while running ADAPTIQ to get them at a base level. Then, I had to adjust their volume up via the app.

Poorly calibrated from manufacturer

Big fan of these. Several years ago I bought what was the Bose Soundbar 700 - this has since been replaced with the updated / renamed Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar, both of which work with these speakers - alongside the Bass Module 700. Just recently, I purchased these speakers as the final add-on to the setup to complete it, and I'm very happy. I love the wireless connectivity, simplicity of setup, they look great, and despite their small size they pump. Some content is very subtle, others are more obvious, it really depends on the mastering of the soundtrack. I also noticed that when playing music via Spotify casting, you do get audio out of these speakers. I can't really tell if Bose is doing some clever audio processing, or maybe some of these tracks come with some sort of surround sound mastering (I don't think so), or maybe they're just duplicating the full track audio to all connected speakers. Regardless, it's nice to hear music coming from all directions. I have these paired with the Bose stands, which are a perfect height for a standard couch. There are basically no options in the Bose app for these speakers - the settings seem to apply to the whole system as far as Bass, etc... - but you can control the overall volume in comparison to the rest of the system to make them more or less subtle. You'll want to experiment with the Bose "Adaptiq" calibration & this setting to get it to where you want.

At the end of the day, these provide impactful, detailed surround sound in a sleek and beautiful package, as you'd expect from Bose. The price tag is, arguably, too high. But for the entire experience when getting the full Soundbar 700 / Ultra set, it's hard to complain about the cost because it's just so enjoyable. I've had the rest of the system for years and have no desire to swap or upgrade, despite having the "old" 700 Soundbar model and missing out on the Atmos up-firing speakers. These complete my setup, and I plan on keeping it rolling for many years to come.

Using the surround speaker at rear end and Sound output not up to the expectation. Do not expect much.

Been a Bose listener/owner for 20 plus years. LOVE LOVE LOVE BOSE sound. Best sound around. Makes Mama very happy.

Superior Listening Experience

Beautiful, stylish, great sound but a bit pricy. The receiver box a bit too big. Connectivity for all Bose products is a bit more complicated than other brands such as Sonos, Bose need to make improvements in this area in general.

Bose speakers

Was unable to get the Surround speakers to work properly. Speakers would connect, but the AdaptIQ process would not complete with the Surround Speakers connected. Worked with Bose Product Support representatives over 2 sessions for a total of ~3 hours, and could not get the AdaptIQ process to work. Conclusion is that the cathedral ceilings may cause problems with the ApaptIQ tuning process. Speakers were returned to Bose for a refund.

I bought them a couple of weeks ago. The sound is surprisingly amazing, considering the size of the speaker. The mounting screw is very small and could be easily striped.

I have no idea how these $600 speakers sound yet as I haven't received the brackets yet to install them so I'm not satisfied at all with my experience.

Unhappy customer

I have always liked Bose products. However, the 700 surround speakers fall a little short. I can't seem to get the sound loud enough. I have to be on top of them to hear anything come out. Trouble shooting doesn't address how to fix the issue. I have done the room calibration according to the instructions. I have watched several different action movies and have the rear volume all the way up. Doesn't help. I wouldn't recommend these speakers.

I bought the speakers as a complement and they really met my expectations. Great.

Excellent

Only way to get enough volume from speakers was to wrap speakers in a towel when preforming the Adaptiq feature. Otherwise the volume is a issue. Bose needs to rectify that problem!

Volume output!

Excellent sound and a nice addition to the 700 soundbar and 700 base. Easy to setup. Would be nice if the base units came with the surround speakers as they are very small and could be easy to knock over if you're not careful.

Recently purchased these speakers and floor stands to replace the Virtually Invisible® 300 wireless surround speakers that I had been using with my Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar. Not only are the Bose Surround Speakers 700 more aesthetically pleasing, but their omni-directionality provide a superior surround experience on Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 and Dolby Atmos.

Superb Sound

Really enhanced the sound in my living room. It's paired with the soundbar ultra and I was not sure if it would make a difference. I was pleasantly surprised to hear how much richer the sound was. These are louder than I expected them to be and I am pleased with them. I wish I would not have waited so long to buy them.
