Old filters on new lens

Polarizing filter for 18-200 Nikon lens to be used on 16-85 lens requires stepdown ring. This one works smoothly.

Buyer beware...

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS ADAPTER RING. This adapter ring does an excellent job at adapting a filter to your lens with a short stack height; however, this thin construction has a significant consequence - filters easily get stuck on this adapter ring. I connected a Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizer HD Hardened Glass 8-layer Multi-Coated Filter to this adapter and on the second time, the filter is permanently stuck on this adapter ring. I have tried several methods to separate the items to no avail (i.e. filter wrenches, etc.) I knew not to over completely tighten any filter to this ring and careful to not cross thread filters; however, this did not stop a filter to get frozen on this adapter. There are several other cheaper adapters that are a much easier to use and more reliable. I would STRONGLY suggest buying a different adapter ring such as a Promaster adapter ring.
