I bought this to control 8 identical IR devices in a "new configuration" setup. (I have 2000 of these devices to load software onto) When I setup the devices and positioned the IR emitters on the devices, I only got a few correct commands sent to the 8 devices. I "thought " the problem was not enough signal to the IR emitters on the devices. It turned out that the controlling handheld IR Remote was sending TOO MUCH signal to the IR Receiver, distorting the output signal through the repeater. I found some colored cellophane (flood light gel filters, if you are familiar with those), and was able to use a dark "neutral density" filter BLOCKING 90% of the light, and a red filter blocking everything below 700nm. I taped those over the RECEIVER pickup, and "VIOLA", the 8 devices responded perfectly. So if you get intermittent control, try adding just a few pieces of satin scotch tape to the RECEIVER sensor to see if the control gets better. I was up to 5 pieces of tape with marginal improvement before I tried the colored and ND filters, and then had a repeatable solution.

This is the best solution for hiding cable boxes and other multi media devices and still controlling them with a remote controller

This was used in a commercial setting for a lunchroom TV. The cable box was hidden above the T-Bar ceiling and only the TV is visiable on the wall. System works perfectly.

Bought this to be able to control my stereo, DVD player and cable box that is in a cabinet. It works great and was really easy to set up. Thanks!

This product was perfect for my situation. I hung my 52" LCD on the wall but didn't want any other equipment to show. I hid the Satelite box and Blue-Ray DVD in an adjoining closet behind the wall. I'm sitting about 25 feet from the TV and everything works just perfectly.

It must be DIRECT wired to the Infrared Remote Control Repeater base unit. This wall plate takes the place of the mini IR receiver that is included with the base unit. You will need to run a cable from the back side of this plate to the base unit. An Ethernet cable works fine as the connection instructions call for two twisted pair to be used. Installed as intended, it works flawlessly.

When planning for finishing my basement, I went for a minimal look for my theater room - I did not want any components other than the projector in the room. I built a narrow hallway on the other side of the front (screen) wall with shelves that hold my components. I bought this to control theater room components (receiver and BluRay player) that are not in the viewing room. I am using this base unit in conjunction with TruLink® Infrared Wall Plate Receiver. This item works perfectly as installed for its intended purpose. Be sure and read the about the operation/installation before you order - don't just order assuming it will work for your application. There is a small IR receiver that your existing remotes shoot their signal to. This IR receiver is connected to the base unit by a long thin cable. The TruLink wall plate (additional purchase) can take the place of the included IR receiver for a more finished look but the back of the wall plate component must be wired to the receiver using an Ethernet or phone cable. The base unit is meant to be in the same room/cabinet as your components. Coming from the base unit are 4 IR emitters (for 4 components) that work best if attached directly in front of the IR receiver on your components. The emiters come with a double-backed adhesive. Alternatively, if your component allows, the attachment can be done by male-to-male 3.5mm cable. Like I said - works perfectly in the situation that it is meant.

purchased to control my uverse cable box to a flat screen tv on a bedroom wall. cable box was in closet and wired thru wall to tv. ir receiver was passed thru wall using a 1/8" stereo plug and then a plug to plug cable to ir box. found best operation by using the 2 emitters attached to uverse. Sometimes requires multiple trys to change a channel. Controller to tv for on off or volume works without a hitch every time. Just ir to uverse box via repeater is inconsistent

Can't say enough good about this product... Very happy with this purchase. You can literally hide all of your AV components in a cabinet and still have them work perfectly with your remotes. Pros. Easy setup, solid unit, works flawlessly. Cons. None

I bought this for use in a large storage unit with a loft. I have a second set of speakers up there and wanted a way to control volume from the receiver downstairs (under the loft). Packaging, simplicity and, despite others' comments, to the point instructions, seemed to meet my needs...until I hooked it up the way I intended - power to the switched outlet on my receiver. The box was powered but the repeater appeared not to be accepting a signal - as evidenced by the lack of the blinking blue light. Double checked. and it was hooked up correctly. Figured I would box it up and return but decided to plug in to a wall outlet and it worked as advertised - nothing more, and slightly less.

I have a new Onkyo receiver and Panasonic Blu-ray Disc player inside a closet behind our LED TV. I purchased the Impact remote control repeater kit. I ran a 3.5mm male to male connecter and ran it from the jack directly to the IR input in the back of the Onkyo receiver - works great. I then connected one of the Infrared Emitters to the 2nd jack and stuck the red emitter end directly over the IR receiver window on the Blu-ray player(this model has a drop down front which may have complicated things). The Blu-ray didn't work. I then removed the emitter and stuck it to the wall directly across from the Blu-ray (about 2 feet away) and works perfectly. All in all great buy. I was surprised that you could directly wire this into the back of a receiver. I tried to direct wire the Comcast cable box with no luck

When we mounted the TV on the Stair wall there was no place for the cable box/DVR. This device allowed us to put the box around the corner in another room. And yes, it works fine with Optimum's Scientific Atlanta 8300HD box. We just made sure the IR emitter was right over the IR receiver on the box. Absolutely worth the price.

My new cable box, Motorola DCX3400 did not work because of the location of the IR receiver. I installed the repeater and it works flawlessly, problem solved!!

Unfortunately this kit does not work with my Scientific Atlanta (Cisco) CIS330 cable box. Just a heads up for anyone who is looking to use this with the same cable box. It does work with my other devices seemingly well, but I only needed it for the cable box, so its of no use to me.

Just some unpublished info for all; As with most of these type devices, you can parallel connect 2 of the receivers and then control your home stereo/theatre system from two different rooms.

Use of the repeater kit along with the in-wall infra red receiver has kept a wireless view of my television on the wall, and kept all my components in the hallway closet 35 feet away.

I haven't tried others, but it doesn't look like I need to. This thing is great. It has four hookups and I used them all. Picks up the IR signal from my remote and transmits instantly to the four receivers hidden in a closed cabinet. The devices receiver has a light that blinks when it receives the signal so you know it is working.

System includes a Sony Blue-ray, Motorola Satellite receiver and a Harmon Kardon AVR210 System worked with the Satellite box immediately, but I could not get the Harmon Kardon receiver to work with the supplied emitter. I called tech support and they did not have any recommendations. Based on a tip on a website, I tried plugging directly into the IR in on the HK with a cable I use to plug my iPhone into my car stereo. Now I have the whole system working!

I have a TV in my room and got this to install the cable box and DVD in the closet behind the TV. So far I have position the receiver in every possible position and the darn thing works intermittently. Tried also removing the glue from the sensor on the cable box, and still no luck. So, called tech support and they only work the hours that I am at work.... great help that is...... No way would I recommend this at this time.

Does not work 100% of the time with my plasma. Blue LED emits a low blink almost all the time, and glows bright when a button is pressed. Sometimes the signal repeats as if the button was held. If the receiver can be positioned just right, its worth the money

We used this to send the IR control to a video projector mounted high out of reach in a church video projection system. We hardwired the IR sensor to the stage over 250 feet of shielded twisted pair cable and it works perfect. Also tired to remote the IR computer keyboard, but that did not work.

When I had gotten the product I was excited about using this IR extender. I was disappointed that I had to modify the IR Receiver Cable in order to extend the cable at a distance of approximately 90', which I was hoping for pheniox connector. But because I'm very fimilar with controls and solder technics I had no problems. Although, I'm not all that fimilar with IR Extenders, I was rather disappointed at the manual and how it had a lack of informtion. This product works great for short distances to a simple plug n play.

I mounted my plasma on the wall in the family room and moved all my A/V equipment into the basement below it. The 40430 extends the remote to the basement with minimal lag time. A/V Receiver, DVD Player and Cable Box (FIOS QIP 6416) all work well. I have the IR receiver under a bookcase so the remote control range is reduced but I am sure this would not be true if the receiver was out in the open.

The Cables To Go Infrared Remote Control Repeater Kit repeats IR signals through emitters for extending the reach of a standard IR remote control. Mounting the IR receiver in a central location and connecting it to the IR distribution block, the kit allows you to control up to 4 components (expandable up to 12). Featuring a 9' (2.74 m) long cable, the repeater kit allows you to control components mounted in places beyond the line of sight for IR signals. In addition, it provides confirmation for reception of IR signals via blinking blue LEDs.
