COLIN M : what is the diameter of the celestron eyepiece ?KENNETH T : Hey Colin The diameter of my celestron is 1 And 1 quarter inches .How ever I Had to make an adapter Top get My Camera Further from the view finder of the eyepiece Ken TJULIAN E : 1.25" diameter.Thomas B : Celestron eye pieces are 1.25"MICHAEL J : If you're talking about the barrel diameter, which fits into the telescope, most are 1.25", however some do come with a 2" barrel. WILLIAM S : will yhis item work with a camera that has a 2 1/4" lens barrel?MICHAEL J : As you might or might not know, this adapter mounts to your telescope lens barrel, and you must have a smooth, unobstructed surface of 1 to 1 1/2 inches to clamp it to. It will fit any size, but with this adapter, it is best suited to smaller point and shoots, as cameras with longer lenses will not have enough clearance between the camera and telescope eyepiece. If you're good with your hands and tools, you could make an plate to fit on the table of the adapter to compensate for larger cameras. You may email me if you have questions.RAYMOND S : I do not have a 2" lens, but I found an object that measures exactly 2-1/4", and it just fit by maybe a 1/16" or so.H PAUL W : Hello Bill: It would depend upon the depth of the camera with the lens extended. I don't believe that the barrel diameter will have any affect on the adapter or "seeing" into a telescope. For $39 dollars, it sure is worth a try to get pictures via telescope with simple digital camera. The constraint with this type mount would be thickness. Eyepieces used with this adaptrer

I did not have a Celestron telescope. I had a Meade 4" Schmidt Cassegrain and a Televue Ranger 70mm. Both of these scopes use the same eyepieces that Celestron scopes use. My scopes were 1.25 inch eyepiece diameter. Any 1.25in. diameter eyepiece is usable with this adapter for digiscoping. This adapter also happens to work with 2.0" diameter eyepieces. If you are using a scope with a .96" eyepiece, this adapter may NOT work. This adapter has no optics, it simply holds your compact digital camera over the eyepiece on a tripod. It works well. Note: with magnification at these high levels, it can take some time to find your subject and then take the photo. I used this adapter with a Nikon Coolpix 5400 camera. It does work with many other cameras and brands. I hope this answers your question and helps. Jim

Digital Camera Adapter

As a beginner with a real interest in astronomy, I wanted to be able to take photos of the moon and other celestial bodies with my point and shoot digital camera. This item makes it possible to do so with ease. Like all (in my experience) Celestron products that are made in [*], I am pleased with the quality, construction and ease of use. Once mounted on the telescope, it's easy to fine tune adjustments.

Misfit

The platform is too small, and too close to the attachment on the Telescope. There needs to be some kind of extension for most common Cameras. It won't work with most cameras!

I would buy this product again again !

I use the Celestron Universal Digital Camera Adapter in astrophotography. December 12 when the moon was near to the earth I could take same pictures,..... GREAT!!!
