Questions & Answers

HARVEY S : Compatible with Pentax K-50?FRIDTJOF N : Sorry, no idea. Mine's a Panasonic.FRED F : Should be compatible with any SLR.ARTURO O : If your Pentax has a 3" LCD then it should. My camera is Canon 7D.LEE W : look at the specs & see its dimensions. I see no reason why it wouldn't work as long as your LCD is big enough for it. just LOVE mine best couple bucks I ever spent !Sharon F : I don't know the answer. But the flipbac website is pretty responsive as I recall. Just google flipbac.
bev d : Have a Panasonic DMC-ZS8 with a 3" LCD. When outside it is impossible to see what I am taking a picture of. Will this product help? I thought I might need something over the top of the camera to shield it from the sun but I'm not able to find such a product. Any suggestions are very welcome.Charles P : I'm afraid this is not quite what you need. According to the daughter that used this device on her camera in sub-Saharan Africa, the device was better suited to protecting the LCD than for improving the ability to read the LCD in bright light. It may be time to upgrade to camera with viewfinder, which seems to work well in bright sun for me. Good luck!HAROLD K : Do not make the mistake that I made. When looking for a 3" diagonal mirror be sure you are getting the correct size. This model is 3" long, not 3" diagonal.ROBERT R C : You might be able to mount this in such a way that it is useful as a sun shade but that is not really what it's made for. You could potentially mount this on your lcd screen upside down to act as a sun shade but I haven't tried this. I use mine to get a reflected image to take low angle shots (without having to lay on the ground), candid shots of people (without having to bring the camera to eye level) and high angle shots (to photograph a crowd of people from above). I am happy with this purchase as it was a good value for what it does.NORMAN R. F : To use it as a sun shield, you would need to mount it upside down like Lance L suggests. I would suggest looking for a "sun shade or hood". I have a DELKIN-SHADE and it works great! It also doubles as an LCD protector when closed.MICHAEL W : It will not help that problem . They do carry a product that fits completely over the off ( hangs on a corn around your neck) has an eye piece built in. I don't remember the mfg name but its logo is a guy in an all yellow outfit . Tell the sales person the above...they will know what Im talking about . It's expensive but works well. LANCE L : You'd have to put this on upside down to flip it up. Might work, might not. There's a thing called a good for 3 inch screens that covers the whole thing like a tent, but may not work for you. I've not tried that. I don't remember the brand name.LEE W : Oh Yes ! It'll do the trick for you. I get constant comments from fellow photogs & several have bought it after seeing mine. I bought mine mainly for Astro-photography but have used it in bright sunlight too.
Jesus S : Hi I want to know: After the f lipbac was stick, can it detached later? Thank you.RONALD B : The direct answer is I do not know, since I haven't attempted to remove it. There is a narrow/small strip of adhesive along the perimeter that holds it in place. I have only used it a couple of times since I purchases it and it works well to keep the screen clean, but you do have to open and close the cover each time you want to look at an image. Hope this is helpful!QUANG L : Yes.JENNY S : I attached it to the original screen cover for my camera so it's easy to remove.CHRISTOPHER S : I personally do not use this althouh I had previously bought one. It appeared to me that once you apply it, it is permanetly on there. I decided to go with a detachable flip our cover for ouside shoots in the bright light.. I hope this has helped you. Happy picture taking. Chris Smith Chris Smith PhotoFRIDTJOF N : Yes, if you work slowly and carefully starting at one corner and pulling gently up. A SMALL amount of alcohol from a Q-tip (no plastic solvents, please) might help loosen the adhesive.Charles P : I had the same question before I bought this device for my daughter's camera. My understanding is that the Flipbac can be taken off the camera, but we haven't tried it yet. Good luck.PAUL L : Yes, you can detach it, but you can NOT re-attach it. I took mine off after a while. It just got too bulky and was always hanging up on the case as we took it in and out. It sort of defeats the purpose of having a small "pocket" size camera. I don't recommend buying it. Just get some good screen protectors.FRED F : Yes it can be detached. To reattach to another camera the sticky stuff may still work or you'll have to get new sticky tape in a hobby shop.GENE T : The one I have is still attached after many months of regular usage. However, the lower hinge has loosened up enough through all the opening and closing that the screen would no longer stay completely closed (in the up position) on its own. It's not a big issue at the moment, since the screen would still hold the open positions through the rest of its range, but I can see how over time that can change. It's like any friction-based hinge, eventually there won't be any friction left to do the job. I am pretty sure the glue will outlast the hinge. If I were to redesign this thing, I'd make the hinge beefier, and perhaps add a tightening mechanism to it to lengthen its service life.

Flipbac does what is says it will do.

I have one older digital camera without a re-positionable screen. By using the Flipbac I can easily get low-level shots. Really made an old camera very useful again!

It Works

It's a great screen protector and adheres to the camera easily and stays put. Since it is essentially a mirror you do have to flip it all the way down when not using it for angled shots otherwise, depending on lighting situations, you will get glare from the mirror when shooting. It's a fun little gadget and better than nothing at all if your camera doesn't come with an angled viewfinder;

Great alternative and great service

Good alternative to the similar feature on the D5100/5200 if you can live with a mirror image and more comfortable with this solution to see ground level display more easily. Not sure twisting and turning the LCD on the D5100/5200 won't result in premature mechanical failure. Adorama service was commendable. I ordered the wrong size and they replaced it immediately. They have my future business and recommendation to friends.

great for shooting Street and over head

This little mirror lets you shoot from waist level or overhead. Simple. People think you are staring at you cellphone and texting. On my s95 perfect. Caveat : attaches with 1mm 3M LCD mounting tape which is not reusable. Mine arrived without it and Flipbac sent a replacement -but they are in Canada and it took 2 weeks. Chose your mount once and for all. I gave the replacement to my daughter and mounted with 2mm tape I had.I love it.

Not great

I intended to use this as a cheap waist-level viewfinder for my Nikon D300, but I gave up on it because it's awkward to use since the inverted image is confusing (hard to figure out which way to move the camera to bring the subject into the frame). I gave up on this and bought an electronic viewfinder which is much more flexible and includes a remote shutter release although it was much more expensive.

Interesting item, but unwieldy

I have limited neck movement ability so this is ideal for me to take pictures of ceilings, etc. It does protect the screen well and is easy to operate. It's a little clumsy to use if you want to take a quick photo. Once it's on it is very difficult to remove.

Quality Build, Easy to use, A bit bulky

I put this on my Canon S95. It was easy to install, and it functions as described. Quality is good. It does add some bulk to the camera, making it difficult to put in and take out of my camera bag. It also catches on the zipper of the bag. One of the things I like about the S95 is the small size, but this product makes it a bit bigger and bulkyier.

It works, but also gets in the way

I shoot more without using it that with it so it gets in the way.

adequate

It serves well as a screen protector, however, a missing adhesive strip in its design makes it feel as though it will come off when you open it.

flipback angle veiwfinder

My concern is the seal for dust and debri, the item does not close tight enough for complete seal of the LCD.Some may find it useful but for me it is more difficult than the pop off covers, also the open angle was not that easy to view.

Not so great after all

I bought this product thinking it would be great for low angle shots, which it was. But after only a few months of use the mirror no longer stays in position, it simply falls straight down. After a little bit of use there isn't enough friction to hold the mirror in place. Great idea, but faulty design.

Best accessory value ever!

The Flipbac is conceptually brilliant. In a simple but fantastic design it not only protects the LCD screen on your camera but it also adds a multi-angle view of the screen which is a great benefit in many situations. While it is not as versatile as an articulated fold out screen I think I like this functionality better since the articulated screen is going to boost the camera price and be a likely future failure point. The price is quite excellent and you'd expect to pay that much or more for a good secure protection cover but to add this nifty two way mirror reflection is truly function and form combined.

Ingenious and simple

This has to be the best little accessory I've added to my Nikon D300 - it protects the screen and gives you the added plus of being able to take shots at odd angles where you cannot line up the viewfinder or screen. The only shooters I might not recommend it to are the chimpers who check every shot via the screen though you can leave it folded down or to the side. It is so simple yet effective that it would be an ideal accessory for Nikon to include with their basic kit. Perfectly conceived and executed!

I like it for low angle shots.

Good for use at low angles, at the beach for the Birds, pictures. As long as the Sun is in the right direction to it.

nice

I got this because I always liked to do waist level shots, or ground level shots, in the past, with whatever camera I had. This has the added benefit of screen protection, as well as blocking out the LCD in places where you don't want the glow noticeable. And I put it on a Pentax K20D, which is a 2.8" screen. Fits fine, looks really good. I didn't rate it 5 stars, cuz we will see about the durability part over time.

This flipbac angle veiwfinder is perfect

The FLIPBAC ANGLE VIEWFINDER Is great. I no longer have to bend down for low subjects, or for shooting over the heads of people. It's on my CANON G-10. When I don't need it it's out of the way. You don't know it's there. When you need it just flip it down, or out. It's everything Adorama said it would be, at a very good price.

Along came Flipbac.

Along came Adorama offering Flipbac, just when I was wondering whether I would spend several hundred to get a right angle view finder for my new Canon 5D Mark II. Flipbac is a fine piece of ingenuity to get those unsual angles without the hassle of a right angle viewfinder change or going on all fours on the floor. I saved a packet and I am so glad that I went for Flipbac. I get not only the low angle shots but also the right-angled views of crowds and people without intruding. I did this in Egypt a few weeks back and the spontaneous shots I got were superb. The switch back to normal shooting is just a "flip"! Matches the color of the camera and protects the LCD viewer on the back or the camera. Great piece at a small price.

Works as described, easy to install

It's a mirror, not a flip out screen, so naturally the image will be inverted

Very useful for those with bad back

I have pain in the lower back and legs which makes it difficult for me to bend over. This also makes it difficult to use the camera on a tripod, as I have to bend over to camera level to see the viewfinder. With the flipbac I can see the image from above and don't have to bend over, which makes a huge difference for me. I also like the idea of protecting the screen. My only criticism is that the screen on the left side of my camera is so close to the edge of the camera that there is no room to stick the adhesive strip. This is not a major problem, however.
