Questions & Answers

Emily T : what ISO of 35mm film is best to use with this camera?JOSHUA K : 200 seems to work well for most situations.ANDREW R : 400 ISO is recommended.
Derick C : Would this be good for my 10 year old? Would like to get my son a camera and he's a bit rough on things. Would this be sturdy for him?JOSHUA K : No. The Diana Mini is not sturdy enough to withstand a destructive kid.MICHAEL T. S : Hi! maybe not, the camera is a bit fragile, I am careful & have to watch myself with it, the rewind sometimes gets tight & I think that it might break & the back is a bit flimsy where it fits into the camera. If you just want a cool plastic camera & do not mind a larger negative, try a Holga, they are quite a bit studier.ANDREW R : This camera may be a little delicate for such use. Though simple to operate for the most part, loading and winding the film may take a little getting used to.
Shopper : is it a film camera?MICHAEL T. S : Hi! Yes it is a film camera, it uses 35mm film & makes half frame images.DIANA F : Yes, 35mm. ANDREW R : Yes, this camera requires 35mm film.

Didn't last long

I really like the lens on this thing. The pictures looked great, but unfortunately the mechanical part of the camera was pretty junky. The stiff shutter action makes the camera lurch right at the moment of shooting, so you're likely to get motion blur instead of what you wanted to take a picture of. The film wind would stop advancing before the end of the roll, so I ended up wasting lost of film, thinking I was done when I actually had as many as 10 half-frame shots left. Square mode spaces the shots out at 35mm intervals so you get wide empty gutters in between frames (more wasted film). And finally, the shutter stopped working. Sometimes it would fire, sometimes it wouldn't, and I could not deal with that unpredictability. I had this thing for less than a year and had to toss it. Disappointing. A new camera (even a toy one) shouldn't fail that soon.
