Paint the Night: Luminescent Portraits After Dark with Photographer Susan Magnano
Date: Wednesday, November 19th · 4:30PM - 6:30PM ET
Location: Meet at 4:30 PM in the Adorama Event Space, head out for the walk at 5:00 PM, wrap back at the store by 6:30 PM
Step into the glow with photographer and light-painter Susan Magnano as she transforms the streets of New York City into her canvas. In this immersive photo walk, you’ll discover how to turn portraits into luminescent works of art where light doesn’t just illuminate, it reveals.
Susan will guide you through the creative process of balancing and sculpting with light using handheld tools, color, and motion to create illuminating portraits. Each image you create will be a one-of-a-kind collaboration between light, subject, and environment—and yes, you’ll even get hands-on experience painting with light yourself.
Together, we’ll explore:
• How to paint light around your subject to create mood and movement
• Ways to blend artificial and ambient light for luminous balance
• How to use color intentionally to shape emotion and story
Bring:
• A camera
• Tripod
• Remote trigger or we can use 2 second
• Any light tools you to want to try out
• Your creativity
This is an in person event only and will not be livestreamed.

OnSet with Daniel Norton: Metering for Skin Tone
Date: Thursday, December 18th · 5 - 6pm ET
Location: Adorama Event Space + Livestreamed Online
Livestream Link: https://www.youtube.com/@Adorama/streams
Do I need a light meter? This is a question I have heard too many times to count. While I understand the photographer is asking about a hand-held meter, the truth remains. If you are using any modern camera, you are using a meter in the camera. And don't even get me started on skin tone...
Join Daniel Norton OnSet as he discusses incident, reflected, and spot metering techniques for perfect skin tone.
