Spend a bit more dough. Get a flash that is user friendly. Mount is funky...Would not buy again..

Fantastic Light

I am a "have camera - will travel" photographer always looking for lighting solutions I can use on location. So when I saw the deal on these, I purchased a couple. best decision I have made in a long time! Used them this past weekend on an in-home portrait shoot. One word to describe their performance; flawless!

Great Solution!

This thing is amazing. Got the head extender and the ParaPop 38” and the light is beautiful. Did a studio shoot with it this week. Super fast recycle, pops off all day. Used it to light up a reception tent at a wedding and it’s perfect. Highly recommend

Very powerful and affordable

Cannot fault Adorama. Quick dispatch, good follow up. Very nice piece of equipment and will be very handy for me to be used in derelict buildings and out door photography. Photo club members are very enthusiastic about this piece of equipment. Highly recommended.

great monolight and performs well in real world use

Powerful flash with my a6000. I put the trigger that it came with on top of my xt-1 and use hss. Has a few cons like only going to 1/16 power with hss and not being able to see on trigger what power your at and no ttl. But the power and refresh time and portability make up for it. Got it on sale at ($) great value.

I'm very happy with my purchase. The Rovelight has great adjustability and is user friendly. I have found the trigger unit included with it to perform reliably (I have yet to try it at distances over 25'). The battery life is great and I haven't used my spare battery yet.

Love this light

This was my first strobe and I am happy with the purchase. The light is very easily used with the built in battery and easy to control after a little practice. The HSS works very will with the additional R2 transmitter and receiver although I would have preferred it if the light display mirrored the details on the transmitter - it does make the adjustments but mine doesn't show the changes on the light.
The transport case that comes with the light is superb. Overall I'm happy with the purchase and may well pick up the Xplor 600 to go with it

First Strobe

I have three of these Rovelights and I've been very pleased with their power and reliability.  Contrary to some reviews, I've never had a misfire.
I would give 5 stars except for two issues: the color temperature is very high (over 7000°K) and I use them with a ¼CTO permanently in place; and since the R2 trigger kit isn't yet available for Sony, HSS isn't possible.

A good performer and good value

This is an outstanding light, especially that with it and the R1 transmitter you are able to use HSS, High Speed Sync. But what you can NOT do with it make it imperative that you consider saving a bit longer and getting the Xplore 600 instead. The Xplore gives you HSS, Plus TTL, which is a must, especially if you are relatively new to using lights. The top strobist in the world, Joe McNally, tells you this also. He uses TTL to get his lights into the correct exposure setting instantly, then he takes over to adjust the lights to create whatever mood he desires. Another major reason to go with the Xplore 600 lights is that they operate with the R2 controller which also controls the outstanding FlashPoint Zoom Lithium Ion TTL Speedlights, (with Lithium Ion battery, which give you over 500 full power flashes per charge,) as well. What this means is that you can trigger them to fire along with the Xplore 600 in joined together setups. Yep, you can string 3 Xplore 600's and say 2 or 3 FP Li Zooms and operate them all with the R2 controller/trigger in one conjoined shoot. This gives you a HUGE advantage. The Speedlights are well under $. and enable you to save big on your Monolight setups!!! This fact can't be overstated. One controller, Monolights and Speedlights together! BANG! Think about it. V. Good Light BUT...

I really enjoy this light, I bought it and use it with a good 38" and it does give a very nice quality of light.  Since it wasn't that expensive compared to others I feel more comfortable taking it everywhere...

Very good for the price with the discount!

I wish I had done this a lone time ago.  This is an excellent set up for on site portrait shoots.  Being able to control the flash from the camera is a huge plus, but the remote is a little cheap feeling. For the money you can't go wrong.

Dipping my toes into strobe lighting.

No need to attach photo as anyone who knows, if you light anything with the correct settings, distance, and so on, you're going to get the photo you want.  I just want to say that while I've only taken around 100 photo's, the battery still says full.  The portability is the most awesome thing I like about this light.  It's a little confusing to get the settings down but what good light source doesn't come with that issue.  I used it for a portrait shoot in the woods with a 48" octo and it worked flawlessly.  Even tried out the HHS to get a nice darkened background at 1/5000 sec.

This is an excellent light. does what it says. Like other reviewers the only downside is the remote. but it is minor and you can get around it

For the price, you can't beat it. I haven't purchased the HSS trigger yet, but it could very well make this a 5 star review. I've only spent a moderate day of shooting with it since purchase. So far, the battery seems to hold its own. Looking forward to evaluating its performance over the long term. 

Great Initial Purchase!

I purchased two of these lights to supplement my speedlite and Alien Bee lights. These lights are very versatile and convenient to use and easily portable for on-location shooting.  The provided diffuser disc is adequate for outdoor shooting and the Bowen's mount that mine came with makes it very easy to attach modifiers.  The unit is advertised as supporting High-Speed Sync. In reality, it appears to support Hyper-Sync. This basically causes the unit to fire a pulse that ensures that there is light present for all shutter speeds.  However, this feature limits the lowest usable power level to 1/16. The HSS-mode can be triggered using the Flashpoint HSS triggers or Yongnuo 622 triggers by attaching either to the flash head via the RCA jack on the flash and PC sync port on the trigger. You can also either stack or just hold the provided remote control to allow the power level to be remotely adjusted.  I particularly found the remote modeling light to be very useful as a continuous lighting source for yet another option when shooting.   This light is a good value for the money.  You won't go wrong adding one or more to your lighting arsenal!

RL600 is a good value for the money

I shoot as a full-time portrait and fashion photographer in Arizona. I've used this in studio and outdoor environments and it's performed incredibly well.  For the most part, the color temps are consistent with only a few variations after shooting thousands of images with it in the past couple weeks.  

It's light and portable and have had no issues bringing it on location shoots.  

The output has been really good.  I've shot portraits outdoors in midday and was able to over power the Phoenix sun at high noon easily using high speed sync and a high shutter speed to get my exposure correct. 

I'll be looking to add another to my kit soon.

I purchased this RoveLight after watching the Gavin Hooey tutorial of his Little Red Riding Hood shoot. This was actualy my first venture into flash photography (besides buying a speed light that wouldn't fire with my Eos 5D Mark 2 but I'm not going to go there!) It was very easy to setup with softbox and light stand and I was extremely pleased with how simple it was to use for someone who'd never used off camera flash! 

I used it a couple days ago for a photoshoot I had with a model in the dense forest and it had no problem either overpowering or matching the ambient light (I used a light meter to match it). It took about 10mins to set up ANS start shooting and another 5 to take down and head back out.

If you're looking for a flash that you can take with you on any outdoor photoshoot, I highly recommend this one!

600WS manual light with remote... I have a soft box for this and a snoot... if you have a light meter with flash reading capability, this unit is a deal... the remote lets you set flash intensity too.

Great light for the price

I am quite happy with these lights. I have shot with the best and the worst. These are a great value and you are getting a lot of bang for you buck.
