This is the 2nd 1/2 Cloud Lightsphere I've used. It is great for indoor family photos - really softens the light for flattering images. My only "gripe" with the unit is that the top will not stay on if you aren't careful. On the positive side, they finally got the attachment system right. Its solid as a rock now.

I used this on my SB910 while shooting a wedding, It works as described it just takes up a lot of room in my camera bag I will probably purchase the collapsible version for my second camera

In wide angle 24mm shots of a large area/group, best results with the dome off even with very high ceilings. I use this for fill flash for outdoor portraiture. A must at weddings (in church and reception hall) when flash is allowed.

The best on-camera flash I've used. Consistent and realistic skin tone.

Better than using pure on camera flash but there was little life in the photos using the Lightsphere. Used it for first 2 months but then found out it was not doing my low low light pictures any good. Still looked flat. Worked out better to have my camera on a tripod with a longer shutterspeed. Retained the texture and color depth. I do stock photography and some weddings. Indoor wedding pictures fared far better without any flash. So, in short, the lightsphere was overpriced for the little it helped (for my needs).

I just bought this and had to use to shoot bridal portraits with added studio light head on location. perfect fill flash with natural light outdoor as well. The easy use slip on was fast when shooting a wedding and the color and light was consistent throughout the ceremony and reception. Can go from backlighting to fill to studio lighting consistently. This was great in a pinch and cut down on photoshop retouching.

It eats a stop of power on your flash but it always produces a soft box effect with a simple flash on the go.

i love the effects this modifier gives, but it doesn't stay on the flash. i'm constantly tightening the strap, but it still falls off. a lot. very embarrassing. and slows me down. too bad, as it's otherwise a good product.

Gary Fong Lightsphere works well when you are close to the subject, for group shots up 5 people woks fine larger than that either you have to open up the aperture or go to much higher ASA. Also if you are in room with high ceiling you need to be close to the subject other wise you get under exposed images. Generally speaking Gary Fong Lightsphere like any other flash diffuser reduces flash out put drastically so you have to constantly shoot at high ASA and open aperture. Lightsphere universal fits a little tight on Canon 580EXII and fits loosely on Nikon SB800, in both case lighsphere fit is not 100% but it is usable!! This diffuser does not produce soft light in some occasions, so don't expect miracles. For the price that it sells for I am kind of hesitant to recommend it to other people.I think Gary on his video instruction he has gone over board telling us that his diffuser produces studio quality light (may be in an ideal condition like small room and white celing but how often do you shoot in such a room). $20 Sto-Fen does the same job and it is not as bulky and wobbly as lightshere and leaves some room on the flash for your remote radio slave, on the other hand I should give lightsphere credit for vertical shots capability and eliminating the use of Stroboframe flash bracket

It gets rid of the glares and washouts of using a direct flash. It's a great diffuser and a great value.

It's nice to have something so easy to use that makes such a huge difference in your light. I have found using it that it really does make so much difference, however it can blow out your photos with too much light in certain circumstances. I highly recommend it though and I never go on a shoot without it.
