I really like the looks and features of Goal Zero products. Comes with a nice internal case, ports for connections and some cables. Well designed appearance. It may just be the nature of solar charging products, but it has never lived up to my expectations. I wanted a way to charge batteries in my car while I was at work. Just putting the Goal Zero under the front windshield (in the car, of course) pointing to the south on a cloudless day did not work for charging the battery pack, even in full sun. i'm not sure why a 7 watt solar charger and a pack to recharge 4 batteries is worth $100 either. I'll probably get another one of their larger products, once I save up the money, though. Just to see if I'm missing something.

I bought this a few weeks ago just in time for spring break! I was interested in using a solar panel and playing around with it! I ended up taking it on my spring break camping trip to try it out. It worked so well! I ended up using it to charge my phone (and my friend's phone as well)!

Goal Zero have the greatest support that I've ever seen. Unfortunately I've lost my cable and contact at Goal Zero with question how can I find and buy another one. So they simply sent it to me for FREE! I am so happy that I can fully use it again! Lovely products, lovely support!

Just returned from a Trek at Philmont. This combo worked perfectly. With the Nomad 7 strapped to the lid of the backpack, and the Guide 10 inside the pocket, charging was usually complete by noon on the sunny days. Only after the 3-consecutive overcast and rainy days did the Guide 10 not have enough power to fully charge the iPhone (used to track and record the route), but the secondary set of AAA batteries I had was enough to carry me over until the sun came back out. Overall, I'm very happy with this combo.

Got this just before a hike. Took it for my trip on the Wonderland Trail in WA. Kept my cell phone and In Touch charged along with batteries for the whole two weeks. Wouldn't go on another trip without it.

My hubby and I received the Guide 10 Plus Solar Kit as a Christmas gift this past year and could not love it anymore. It was easy to figure out how to use, it has plenty of cords so you can hook it up to many different electronics, and it works very well. Obviously the amount of sun affects the charging time, but we have taken it on several trips and never had an issue. We have a speaker and torch to go with it, so we can count on having music, light, and GPS whenever we are are out exploring. Overall a great product that I am happy to own!!

A year ago I purcashed a Guide 10 kit and has accomplished all that I wanted of it. I am pleased that it charges the batteries well even in less sunny days which charges my iPhone as promised. I will be purchasing another in the near future for my husband. Thanks Goal Zero.

I bought this from an outdoor adventure store in Adelaide and I've had nothing but positive experiences since. The solar panels have been through rain, 40+ degree celcius heat, sat on the dash in my car for days on end, been left out over night, been dropped and even sat on! Still going strong! The battery pack is a joy to use too, just wish it didn't make the high pitched noise when charging my iPhone 4s. Only seems to do it for my iPhone so makes me think it's probably an issue with my phone more than the battery pack. Strongly suggest buying this if you live an adventurous lifestyle and need a quick charge up while on the go!

I purchased 6 months ago and it has held up well so far, the only problem was the cheap zipper holds on carry case, they broke off first pull, other than that it has been a great little product.

I bought this kit along with the rockout speaker. The panels and battery pack work well and the batteries seem to be less affected by cold temperatures as other recharge systems I have used so they provide more power in cold weather. I recently had battery issues with my phone, and the Motorola battery pack I had bought functioning well at about 40 degrees. The Guide 10 provided good power to recharge the phone. They are functional for backpacking trips or other times where weight is an issue. My next purchase will be a yeti or sherpa for car camping.

I boubought this for powering my gopro hero 3 plus and my samsung galixy s5. For the gopro it performed flawlessly aND was even faster than some of my wall plugs. It lost a star for me because of its noise while attempting to chare my popower hungey phone which I later found out had the power draw equiequivilent to a tablet but with the sun out it did the best it could and that's all I expected buy I got more with the ruggedness and the loops on the nomad 7 it was the perfect product. I am planning to get more goal zero products to power my laptop and I'm keeping my expectations high. A flawless job by goal zero.

I bought this a few (I don't recall exactly when) months ago for a trip to *overzealous censor* Canyon. The unit has worked very well, even charging through the windshield well enough to keep my cell fully charged while hooked to the vehicle sound system when in airplane mode and with the screen off. I've not had it long enough to comment on the durability, but as to the features the only shortcoming is in not being able to charge without four batteries installed. This results in needing to carry a spare instead of just using the five (two in flashlight, three in headlamp) AAAs I require. With the inset removed the 4xAA Eneloop batteries I have installed are great for charging my Kindle and topping off (the battery is huge, more tablet sized than phone sized) my phone. If this were capable of using only the two or three AAAs my lights use as they died rather than requiring extras be installed to charge I would call it perfect.

So easy to use, I thoroughly recommend this solar panel. I used it recently on an 18 day trek, and it worked well. The only fault was the loops on the edges, which are presumably for use in hanging it onto things. Two loops broke almost instantly without much load at all. I ended up sewing a more solid strap onto the edge which I was able to adjust and tighten. Maybe the unit could feature such a strap. All in all very happy with goal zero.

Bought this to take to Boy Scout National Jamboree. These things were everywhere! Setup the panels on chair during day and charged iPhone by night. Powered all the way through 10 days of camping. Some days we managed to charge 2 iPhones. Some people had poor results, I suspect they were the ones who tied this to their backpacks for the day. I tried this one day with disappointing results. Problem with this is who wants to stand in the hot sun? How much time will you be pointed just the right direction? MUCH better to just set the panels up on your camp chair during the day while you are out and come back to a full battery pack. Recommendations: Do not use the loops on the power panel on a backpack due to poor efficiency and the loops pull out. It may well be worth getting a second battery pack as you can charge two in one good day.

I have tried a few cheaper products and that is what I got, CHEAP! This is by far the Cadillac product for solar. Very versatile. As the Cdillac commercials used to say (You will never be sorry your bought quality) No kidding. Do yourself a favor, buy GOALZERO.

I learned about the Goal Zero products while searching the internet for ways to recharge batteries. I purchased the Guide 10 Plus Solar kit and was very impressed with how easy and great it worked. So for this last Christmas I bought the same kit for a friend. Since buying my original kit, I've purchased several other Goal Zero products and recommend them to others.

GOALZERO on the John Muir Trail
By hikerdmb
I just finished a 3 week solo hike of the John Muir Trail. I used my GOALZERO NOMAD7 and GUIDE10PLUS battery pack to keep my cell phone and satellite communicator charged during the entire length of the trail. Since I was solo this was very important. I was constantly amazed at how quickly the GUIDE10PLUS would reach a full charge. Then at night I would use the battery pack to charge my phone. I had afternoon and evening cloudy/rainy conditions for 6 of 7 days during the middle of my hike, an...

Suggestions to charge an iPad (daytime)
By Sunsluv
Suggestions to charge an iPad during the day: Start with the batteries fully charged and the iPad turned OFF (not sleeping). First I plugged my iPad into the USB output port on the Guide 10 "Plus" Battery Pack, and then connected the battery pack to the Nomad 7 Solar Panel with the Ultra Charge Solar Cord to the solar input. Next I placed the solar panel in the sun and then TURNED ON the battery pack. I had no problems charging my iPad. (Sometimes plugging and unplugging the iPad a few times ...

The Goal Zero Guide 10 Plus accommodates 4 AA or AAA NiMH batteries, which it can charge using its solar input or USB mini input. A USB 2.0 to mini USB cable is included. To use the sun's rays for power, you simply connect the Guide 10 Plus to the high-efficiency mono crystalline Nomad 7 Solar Panel. Just plug the supplied cord into the Nomad 7's solar output and the Guide 10's solar input. Charging takes about 3-6 hr this way and about 6-10 hr using a USB power source. You can charge your smartphone or other USB-powered device by connecting it to the USB output on the Guide 10 Plus. This unit can also be used as a battery pack for powering the built-in LED flashlight, which is capable of running for over 100 hr per charge using AAs. There is an on/off switch on the Guide 10 for the USB output and LED flashlight and a charge indicator light is also present.
In addition to its solar output, the Nomad 7 Solar Panel also features a USB output for directly charging devices. It's configured with a 12VDC output for charging other devices, too. The USB and 12V ports can even be used to charge 2 different electronics simultaneously, splitting the incoming solar power between the two.
