CATHY S : will the Giottos MH-1001 Pro Medium Ball Head with Independent Panning Lock and Built-in MH652 Quick Release fit this monopod?RONNIE B : Hi Cathy, I am currently using the Giottos MH-3300-658 on my Gitzo GM3551 Monopod. I used to own the Giottos MH-1001 and I am quite sure it will work also. Sincerely, Ron
DEAN S : What is the tip made of and can it be replaced? Will I need a quick release head adaptor for my Nikon D600?ALAN B : It's rubber and replaceable. You'll need a monopod head. I use a Really Right Stuff Quick release and plate for a Nikon D600ROBERT L : The bottom tip is extremely hard rubber and can be replaced but looks like it will last a lifetime. The mount is reversible so it will fit any camera mount. I shoot Canon and use it for my 400mm 2.8. I never have to remove it quickly. If you need to take a camera body off quickly you would have to unscrew which is pretty quick. I've owned about 6 different mono pods over the years and this is by far the best one.JOHN W P : It has a rubber tip covering a spike there are several tips available for it and yes you will need to get a head for the Monopod, after much trial and era I settled on the Manfrotto 494 with the RC2 quick release adapter. It works well and is small and light enough to leave on when carrying about. The Gitzo Series 3 is a great Monopod and well worth the investment.

Gitzo GM3551 is Outstanding!

The Gitzo GM3551 is exactly as I expected from a Gitzo product. The biggest feature to me is the total extended length. As a tall person (6' 3") it is nice to have the ability to purchase this product which is built for tall individuals.

Gitzo carbon fiber monopod

This monopod is lightweight but can be used with a 400 2.8 lens for stability. It is great for taller people (I'm 6' 2" tall) and is simply a workhorse. I've used many monopods and this one is simply the best on the market. Very pleased with my purchase.
