I bought two of them. And one came with two rubber bands missing.

What do you expect for $1.99? A lot less than what I received. I was pleasantly surprised that it is as well made as it is, that it does what it is supposed to do, and that with a little care I expect it to serve well for quite a while. I used it with a fairly short shotgun which probably didn't tax it to much but I think it sufficiently built to work with longer mics. And c'mon.... it's @1.99.

Plastic feels pretty sturdy and the rubber bands hold my Sennheiser shotgun mic pretty good. I mainly have it for a backup to my better one.

The H&A HAAXSM20 Professional Suspension Camera & Boom Shockmount forShotgun Microphones dampens noise and vibration for shotgun and narrow pickup microphones by 'floating' the microphone between four latticed elastic suspension bands. The tough ABS plastic body construction firmly connects to a standard 3/8" threaded boom pole and attaches atop a DSLR on the hotshoe with the included locking adapter. The metal adapter base has a 1/4"x20 threaded socket as well, for maximum compatibility. Designed for studio and field use, the shockmount will accommodate shotgun microphone body diameters between 0.75 and 1.5" of almost any length. The unit has a tilt adjustment for maximizing the focus of the shotgun microphone's pickup pattern.
