Questions & Answers

RUDY R. F : I have a Nikon 55-200mm lens that i want to make into a micro (especially at the 105mm setting). I have a 60mm micro but sometimes i want to be further away from my subject but also get a great close up. Will these close-up filters do the job for me?WILLIAM C : That depends. Some do not recommend using zooms as micros because they are softer, focusing can be finicky, depth of field can be frustrating to nail and the less expensive lenses are slower. You may not be able to acheive faster than f 5.6. I would recommend that you explore your options, including a prime.PAUL B : PS. you probably won't be able to get further away- I was pretty close just inches away.PAUL B : If you are looking for serious quality this will probaqbly disappoint you. But if you're just looking for something to have fun with (as i was) it works. I had one good session with a bug recently who seemed to be content to 'pose' for awhile.

How to get close, inexpensively

I use this to take closeups of flowers for a book in preparation. It is inexpensive and works perfectly. It also protects my lens. A very minor drawback is that it takes a minute to engage the screw mount.
