I have planned an extended photography trip in Alaska and need all day batteries. This fit right into my camera and screwed on the camera mount. It has its own mount so one is not lost. It holds two batteries which helps in burst or video modes. I would recommend it.

I've used this battery grip for over 5 years on my Canon 7D body. It never comes off. It has not given me a second of trouble -- it has been completely reliable. I can't imagine investing extra to get a Canon-brand grip (as I did for earlier dSLRs); this grip has functioned every bit as well as Canon's. What I like about using a grip in general: -- bigger grip area for my larger hands -- better balance when using a long lens -- vertical shutter release when shooting in portrait orientation -- longer battery life (2x batteries), esp in cold conditions

I bought this grip because of the cost. Was going to just get the canon version. Well, Flashpoint is a well made grip for the money. The extra AA cartridge for backup is excellent, the batteries last a long time just on those. The rubber on the grip doesn't match the rubber on the 7d but it's pretty close. It is made of plastic not the same material of the camera but overall it is pretty good. I use it for shooting films and sometimes photography.

Matches the quality of Canon's at a much better price.

Flashpoint wins again with a superb example of how you can wisely use their products to built an affordable and efficient photo tool box. What a great value this grip is. Operates just like the Canon grip and puts dollars back in your pocket. There is no 'power drag' in the link to the camera - 2 batteries were still strong after more than 1400 shots - even with some built-in flash use. Good job FP!

This is a great alternative to the Canon product having about the same features at a much lower price. I found the instructions a little unclear when it came to storing the Battery Cover, but I was able to work thru it OK. The rest of the assembly was very easy.

I use this for the extra battery and the extra controls. The grip is roughly half the price of the name brand grip, but it feels like it belongs on the camera. It feels solid, and the design blends right in. Once soccer season starts up, I'll put it through its paces, but my initial use is real impressive.

I have the Canon grip on my 40d for five years and loved it. I have this Flashpoint model on my 7d now and I think it is as good or better than OEM. The textured finish is identical to Canon with a professional "tacky" feel to it. However, Flashpoint one-ups the Canon product by wrapping the texture around the front of the unit. It looks more handsome than the Canon. I read complaints that material is cheap and it don't fit well. UNTRUE. It is as good, if not better than OEM. Mine seats BETTER than the Canon grip with no wobble. Both units feel kind of light and cheesey standing alone, but install two batteries and mount them on the camera and your mind will change. My only very tiny gripe is the power button. It is not quite as recessed as the Canon and when gripping the camera the button rubs on my palm a little and can be distracting---I'll probably grow out of it. Not buying OEM (camera equipment) is a first for me and I am very pleased. The Canon grip has never been removed from the 40d and I expect the same with this Flashpoint 7d combo. I suspect the $100 diference between OEM and this one may be weatherproofing to 7d standards. If you want a grip that won't disappoint buy this one---before they realize what they have here and raise the price!

I've been using Canon DSLRs with OEM Battery Grips for years but thought I'd give this less expensive alternative a try when I recently purchased a 7D body. I can't say it's the complete equal of the Canon grip because it seems just a bit lighter in construction. The battery compartment door, in particular, is a bit flimsy compared to the OEM model. Nevertheless, it does feel good enough and the finish is virtually indistinguishable. I've been using it regularly for about 90 days now and haven't had any problems whatsoever. It's only a grip. It has no impact at all on the camera functions or the images it produces. I don't see any reason to spend more than double the price for the Canon version. This is a good deal.

I was a bit reluctant at first, but given the Canon grip was way off my budget and I had read so many great reviews, I finally went ahead and got this grip. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. It looks welt built, it feels good in your hands, and does basically everything a vertical grip should do - at a WAY lower price than the Canon branded one! If looking for a vertical grip for your Canon 7D, I definitely think you should try one of these! It will most likely not disappoint you!

This grip has fit perfectly on my camera and has really balanced the camera and lens combos out well. It's buttons have all worked properly and easily.

For the price, I think is ok, it maybe a little bulky but you get used to it.

I was apprehensive at first, but after receiving the grip and putting it on my camera, I was very satisfied. I used it the very next day at a wedding and it worked fine. I actually received two, as I also bought one for my Canon 5D Mark II and have the same positive experience as well. Also, just this week I spoke with a friend who also has one for his 7D and it is working great for him, and he uses it every day and, unfortunately, is very hard on his equipment and it is still working great after a full year!

I was a bit skeptical since this wasn't an official Canon product. However, this is a VERY close alternative to the actual Canon one. They got the materials just right and you can barely tell it isn't a Canon product. I highly recommend saving the money and getting this product.

Great product. Great price. The difference in build quality compared to the Canon model is minor. Buy this over the Canon model if price is a issue for you.

It is particularly useful on long shoot days or long trips. Makes vertical shots much easier to make with the auxillary controls is has.

This is not a professional quality grip, but it works. It is very easy to install on the camera, feels good, and so far all of the features work as they should, however there is a noticable gap between the grip and the bottom of the camera. This gap is big enough to let dust, dirt and moisture get into the battery compartment, which is cause for concern. I did not exect top notch quality from a product as inexpensive as this, however the gap issue is a big deal if you don't shoot in a clean studio.

I found this grip to have less problems than the Canon grip I had for my 20Ds. I would purchase this model again before I purchase the Canon grip.

I have owned Canon grips in the past. This grip is their equal in construction and in use. The low price makes tho a no-brainer.

I bought this grip based on a previous grip for my 450D. I was pleased with the quality of the grip on the 450D. This grip, seems a bit on the cheap side. It does not have the robust feel as the 450 grip. I use it mostly for sports and some portraits. To date, the grip functions well. because of the contruction, I'm not thrilled about taking it out in bad weather. It falls in to the "you get what you pay for" category... it works but on the cheap side. I'd recommend this to a friend depending on use.

Great battery grip. Fits well, good construction. Tightens down nice and snug to your tripod mount. Matches camera well. I only have two gripes. 1. The printed button identification markings are not embossed like the Canon so they wore off rather quickly. But if you know your camera, you don't need them anyway as the grip is laid out just like the camera. 2. It is just a little loos when mounted on a tripod. Remove the battery grip for the tripod shots you need really really sharp.

I got this grip and used it immediately on a 10 hour wedding, there were no problems and the construction feels solid. I sometimes forget to turn the grip on/off switch to off, but I don't think it makes a difference in the battery life if the grip switch is on but the camera is not being used. Overall worth the risk of buying off brand, with some savings to boot!

It looks this came from the same mold as the Canon 7d grip. 2 minor cosmetic changes, one is invisible and the other is (in my opinion) an improvement over Canon grip. This grip looks like the Canon version in every way. I can only find 2 differences (other than manufacturer's label). The battery door does not have graphics on the inside (big deal). The simulated leather on the front has a molded protrusion that fits between your fingers, making it nicer to hold than the Canon version. Due to...

Great alternative to Canon branded grip
By PETER S.
I plan on keeping this on the camera, no need to remove it. This grip is an excellent value. It fits the camera very well. The hand grip material is "grippy", for lack of a better term. The tactile feel of the buttons is great. The shutter button is "tighter" than the camera button. The other grip buttons offer the same excellent tactile feel as the grip's shutter button. The only "con" is that the "Main Dial" on the grip doesn't have as good a feel as the one on the camera and it is s...

The Flashpoint Professional Power Battery Grip for the Canon 7D is an optional but essential accessory with excellent ergonomics designed specifically for the Canon EOS 7D.
Featuring intelligent links to camera functions, matching the design and feel of your camera while doubling the battery power with a twin cell chamber that can load a choice of one, or two battery packs. This is especially useful when taking advantage of the camera's Movie mode or Live View mode - operating modes that use more power compared to using a single LP-E6 pack. In addition, with the included battery magazine, you can also run the camera off six AA batteries.
The non-slip rubberized grip offers perfect balance in any direction with full vertical shooting controls, which can be independently turned on or off as the photographer needs to enhance camera handling, especially for shooting vertical pictures - not videos, please. The grip has generous operating controls as well: shutter button, Main Dial, multi-controller, AF point selection button, AE lock/FE lock button, AF start button, and multi-function button. The base of the grip has a standard 1/4-20 tripod socket and a hand strap mount. Your camera's original battery door fits snugly in a protective hidden slot for instant retrieval.
