Price is greatJAMES N : Great device, works on my D90 as advertised.
KEN C : Hello, does anybody know if this will work on a Nikon D7100? Thanks!KURT H : yes works fine. bit of a battery hog unless you turn it off when not in yse. Have spare batteries handy.KEN C : Thank you Robert!ROBERT P : this GPS almost never gets a sigil even on a very clear day !If it's over cast or in side for get it.Don't waste your money.KEN C : Thank you John! Much appreciated!JOHN W : I've used this device once on my D7000. The camera recognized that it was plugged in immediately and it locked in on the satellites fairly quickly (I was in a Cessna 182). When I selected the pictures in Lightroom and moved to the Map module, the location of all the pics showed up on the Google Map looking display. In fact, what it displayed was actually our flight path. I can't say exactly how close the recorded location was to the actual location, but it was close. The D7100 appears to be very similar to the D7000 (but higher MP, higher ISO and faster circuitry), and it has a GPS port in the same location. I would be surprised if the Promote Systems GPS-90 was not a perfect fit.RANDY D : Yes the device works with the Nikon D7000 just fine quit reliable.

Great for use with Nikon 7100

I had wanted a GPS for some time. I bought this and am very satisfied. It provides latitude and longitude but not direction. Its altitude measurement is not accurate. For example at sea level it read 15 to 37 meters!! But that does not matter to me. I just want to add the location to my photos as I shoot all over the place. Great value

works great, does what it's supposed to.

works like it's supposed to and it's very easy to use; plug it in, turn it on, and make sure the camera's set for it. it works and for the price, it's worth it.

Does what it's supposed to do

On power up, be prepared for a long (almost 2 minute) wait for a gps fix. After that it's great. I have a D90 and use Nikon's Viewer and Google's Picasa 3. What makes it so cool, in either "viewer", using the Geotag button will give a popup of either Google Earth or Google Maps (internet connection required) with the exact location shown. Hint: If you took 644 pictures at one location, don't "geotag" any more than one or two pictures into Google Earth or you will have a nasty mess on the screen. Maybe "tagging" the first picture shot (only) at a single location would be appropriate. Battery life doesn't seem to be diminished hardly worth noticing. I took 644 pictures at one location and still had more power to go. Finally, it does what it's supposed to do, nothing more, nothing less.

Works as advertised on D90. Able to locate exact location from Lightroom Maps.

Go where photography is headed with the Promote GPS! Now photographers can harness GPS technology to pinpoint the precise location from which a photograph is taken. Called "geotagging", this new technology embeds geographic information into a photograph along with the time and date stamp.

The Promote GPS Receiver features the SiRF Star III chip, which excels at acquiring and maintaining a GPS signal lock. The GPS unit consumes less than 55mA from the camera, making it one of the most power-efficient GPS receivers available for Nikon D90 and D5000 (only) DSLR cameras. It will automatically power up and down along with camera exposure meter, allowing for further saving of the camera batterypower.

What's in the box:
