Review Summary

This is one solid and gorgeous camera. I couldn't really appreciate what medium format, 100mp could do until I kept blowing up one shot and couldn't believe the detail. This is something else. As for the fixed focal length? No problem. It's made me really look at composition again, not relying on messing with editing programs. My first serious camera back in the early 70's was an Asahi Pentax with only a light meter, and a 50 mm lens. This makes me think and feel like that all over again. Oh, and it's light enough to carry up some pretty steep mountains in New Hampshire. I don't know what I'm going to do with all the other stuff now...

First: The customer service from Adorama was nothing short of spectacular. I visited the store in NYC and was treated like a special customer from the beginning. Thank you. Second: If you're reading this review, you've undoubtedly read countless other reviews. This camera is perfect (for me). Full disclosure: I do not make a living from photography. But I have been shooting photographs for almost 50 years. I started with my father's Nikon SP rangefinder from the 1950's. The Fujifilm GFX100RF is an amazing piece of engineering and art. I have been a Fujifilm (XPro-1 and XPro-2) user for well over 10 years, so the Fuji "system" (menus, programming, etc.) is a fluid part of my photography ritual. I'm not going to speak to technical data nor the gripes that many previous reviews have written (F/4 lens, no in-camera IBIS...). Yes, the "slower" lens takes some user adjustment. Yes, the lack of IBIS forces you to think, practice and enhance your own technical skills. This camera demands that the person holding it is the real deal. A real photographer. Not a mindless "spray and pray", inpatient knucklehead who doesn't "have the time" to think about photography. I do not shoot sports, or fast moving subjects. If I did, I would look elsewhere. This camera also forces the photographer to do some self analysis. I am a 95% natural light street and landscape photographer. Yes I do shoot in low light. In a few short weeks I have managed to improve my low light, handheld skills immensely. I can now reliably get a 90-95% success rate at low ISO, handheld shots at 1/8 of a second. slower speeds than that are what monopods, tripods, or high ISO were created for. This beautiful camera is encouraging me to shake the dust off and become a photographer again. The jpg. images are incredible. I haven't seen this kind of resolution and detail since I sold my 4x5 Linhoff Technica 20 years ago. This camera will slow you down (in low light), but I am a better photographer for it. The in-camera aspect ratio dial is a wonderful on-site creative tool. The in-camera cropping "zoom"-like feature is another unique creative function. Thank you Fujifilm for giving us medium format resolution in a truly handheld, beautiful camera.

Fantastic camera. Sold my Leica Q3 43 and no regrets. The camera is a joy to use. Built as good as my Leica and the pictures are fun. The crop factor and the aspect ratio are so much fun. The picutre coming out of this thing are amazing. The lack of IBIS and slow lens are no problem at all. I can take perfect pictures 90% of the time.

Some background on me before I jump in is that I've been a Sony alpha user for the last 8 years and an A7RIV 64 megapixel camera for the last 4 years. I shoot mostly landscape photography and this is my first Fujifilm camera after looking to switch to medium format. The positives: GFX100RF Is a well built, high quality camera. Everything about it feels premium. It is just is a beautiful rangefinder style camera. The auto-focus is snappy and precise. Image quality is unmatched, the combination of 100megapixels with the medium format sensor is outstanding. Very few other cameras will come close to it. For a lot of people this might be overkill but if you're looking for the most portable, max image quality, high-end camera I don't think there's any other like it. The negatives:The biggest limitation for me has been the lack of an IBIS. When you're shooting under 100 shutter speed you have to make sure you have a stable hand otherwise you're gonna struggle getting sharp images.

Great camera - light weight - amazing photos
Create incredible images every day with FUJIFILM GFX100RF digital camera. With classic rangefinder styling and a premium tactile design, it offers a classic photography experience, while the large format sensor, wide dynamic range, and low noise floor deliver the ultimate image quality. A new Aspect Ratio dial provides instant access to nine compositional formats, many from legendary Fujifilm analog cameras.
20 different Film Simulations harness Fujifilm's 90-years of experience in color science to deliver outstanding in-camera looks suited to every subject. The camera's precision engineered 35mm lens on a GFX sensor offers the equivalent angle of view of a 28mm lens on a 35mm format camera - optimal for hand-holding - plus it also features digital teleconverter options, an internal ND filter, and a leaf shutter for further flexibility and creative expression. Weighing just 735g (25.9 oz) and compact enough to fit in a pocket, this is the ultimate everyday carry.
Quality has never been so portable
FUJIFILM GFX100RF digital camera is a large format camera that's compact enough to fit in a small bag, making it the ultimate everyday carry. Its rangefinder style design is a tactile tour de force with machined aluminum dials offering premium handling experience. Furthermore, the offset viewfinder not only echoes the X100VI and GFX50R, but it also has deeper photographic roots, loved by some of the 20th century's photographic pioneers. The camera is weather resistant when the supplied adapter ring and a compatible filter are attached, so it's perfect for image-making in all conditions.
Dial into classic composition
FUJIFILM GFX100RF is the first Fujifilm camera to feature an Aspect Ratio dial. Positioned on the back of the camera, it provides rapid access to nine image formats, many of which have appeared on previous analog Fujifilm models. Ratios include 4:3 from the legendary FUJIFILM GX680, 65:24 from the panoramic FUJIFILM TX-1 and 1:1 from Fujifilm's first camera; the FUJICA Six.
Legacy film inspired looks
Offering unrivalled creativity, the 20 Film Simulations in FUJIFILM GFX100RF are directly inspired by Fujifilm's 90 years of experience in color science to deliver unique in-camera looks. Leverage color reproduction inspired by our analog heritage to create stunning images straight out of camera, whether you want to work in color black.
The ultimate image
Using a 102-megapixel large format sensor that is almost 70% larger than full frame, GFX100RF delivers unsurpassed image quality that GFX Systems are renowned for. The camera can create 16-bit RAW image files for stunning detail and color, plus it offers a wide dynamic range, low noise - with native ISO down to 80 - and outstanding sharpness. Multiple image file formats are also available, including 10-bit HEIF.
Engineered to deliver
Designed to deliver stunning sharpness from center to edges, the fixed 35mm lens on FUJIFILM GFX100RF offers an angle of view equivalent to 28mm on full frame sensors and features a close focus of just 20cm (7.8 inches). Thanks to the resolution density of the sensor, digital teleconverter options for 45mm, 63mm and 80mm are also available - expanding compositional possibilities, while the lens's leaf shutter provides near silent operation, minimal sensor shake, and flash sync at all mechanical shutter speeds.
Take full control
Underlining the camera's creative controls, GFX100RF features an internal 4-stop neutral density filter for greater control over optical exposure. Ideal for use in bright conditions when a scenario demands a wider aperture or slower shutter speed, the filter neither degrades nor colors the image, instead providing great flexibility to create the image how you see it.
