It does not work. The light on the adapter will flash once the ethernet cord is in it, but the HP computer I have says it doesn't recognize it. I know it's not my ethernet cord because it works on my Dell computer that doesn't need an adapter.

Just plugged it in l, attached the cable and it connected to the internet. Worked perfectly!

HAs a light to show when the signal is flowing through, which is especially useful if your desktop is on the other side of the room from your modem and looks good too, with the snazzy HP logo.

There are dozens of USB to Gigabit ethernet adapters on the market. Most work fine, but this HP device is the best of about ten different brands I have tried. My only issue is that it runs a bit warm to the touch which tells me it is using a fair amount of power. Not an issue if your laptop is running off the power supply, but perhaps a small issue if running on the battery. I get the fastest connection speeds to my network switch when using the HP adapter. No drivers to install. True plug and play. It makes no sense to buy a lesser known brand when you can get this trusted brand for about the same price. Highly recommended.

Internet lags, and the adapter gets hot. I am using with brand new HP Envy laptop that did not come with an ethernet port.. I cannot find anywhere to call to ask about this. My 2012 HP Pavillion laptop is faster with ethernet connection!

My hp Envy doesn't have an Ethernet connection. I bought this so that I could get gigabit speed for videoconferencing. It came in the mail quickly and worked perfectly. I'm getting 800-900Mbps speeds with my wired connection now.

Nice USB 3.0 to Gigabit adapter that just works like it should -- like being able to plug directly into a traditional RJ45 jack for wired networking; no need to install drivers or a software suite. Looks good. Although it's HP-branded, it'll work on just about anything with a working USB 3.0 port.

I bought this unit to raise my Internet speed on my older HP laptop which was getting only 50-60 MBps using the built in Ethernet connection. Plugged this handy device into my computers USB port and my ethernet from my cable company and now get a nice 360-620 MBps. I am stunned at how quickly this worked. I just plugged it into my HP laptop's USB drive, connected the ethernet cable to the other end and presto - Ethernet connection worked immediately!

I bought a 15.6" laptop because anything smaller has no useful ports. I was disappointed to find I needed a separate USB device. The device works fine but I lost it the first day I used it. It fell between the couch cushion. All of these external devices hanging off the laptop are inconvenient.
