Questions & Answers

Shopper : What is the range of the apertures?STEVE Z : FZ70 aperture range is f2.8 - f8.0 at 20mm. f5.9 - f8.0 at 1200mmLARRY A : It's from f2.8 at 20mm and stops down at f8 as you reach 1200mmERIC S : Aperture range is f2.8 - f8.0. This camera is terrible, look at Sony w/ Zeiss lens........EricMILTON A : Wide angle is f2.8 to f8. Racked out to max telephoto it is f5.9 to f8.MARY K : Here is what the manual says: F2.8-F8.0 Some aperture values are not selectable when using conversion lens. Depending on the zoom position, some of the values cannot be selected
EDELTRAUD E D : Will it install in windows 7 for downloads ?MAUREEN T : Yes, it will take Window 7ANGELA S : Yes. I have been using it with Windows 7 ever since it came on the market. It's my "go to" camera.DAVID F : It will install in Windows 7 without any problem at all. However, I find it just as easy to simply remove the SD card from the camera, insert it into my computer and save the pictures directly to a specific folder on my computer.ROLAND K : yesBRYAN W : Yes, the software is Windows 7 compatible. Images and video can be transferred to your computer using the supplied USB Cable, or use of a SD card reader.RUTH B : Yes, I am using it on my windows 7 computer with no problemsRAMKUMAR M : Yes it does. Once the camera is connected, the flash drive in the camera is recognized on the pc and the images can be transferred.RAUL R : yesANDREW B : yesROBERT F : I guess I don't understand the question. If you mean can you put the images from this camera into Windows 7, then the answer is yes.
Shopper : Does the lens accept filters?BRYAN W : Yes it accepts 55mm threaded filters.DONALD K : Yes! It does.ANGELA S : Yes. It accepts all filters from all manufacturers.ANTONIO B : Yes, it accepts ordinary 55 mm threaded filters.ROBERT F : Yes, it does take 55mm filters. But to eliminate a chance of vignetting at wide angle, I use a 55-67 step up ring and 67mm filters and a rubber wide angle lens hood or a rubber "3 position" lens hood. I always leave the 55-67 ring and the lens hood on the camera and only remove the hood if I am putting on a filter and then put back the hood. I never use a lens cap. If dirt or sand is blowing a lot, simply slip a plastic bag over for protection. By using 67 mm filters and step rings, I can adapt all my cameras to use the same filters. If you think you may be going to a bigger camera and some very big and expensive lenses, I might think about moving up to 77mm or 82 mm to avoid buying more filters later on. Over the years, I have bought so many filters in many different sizes that the savings probably would have paid for another camera. I love the Panasonic FZ series and have several of them. You will be very happy with a Panasonic FZ, there is something always better if you want to spend several thousand and become a "professional", but for great pictures you will love the FZ. At this price, you can't beat the FZ70. I have no interest in this company or Panasonic, I have been a photo hobbyist for 60 years.DAVID F : Yes it does. It is threaded for 52mm filters. I have a UV filter on mine mainly to protect the lens from getting scratced.CHAIM E : Yes it does.

Very pleased!

I have a Nikon DSLR that I love, but with the large lens it is very heavy. This camera is perfect for those occasions when I want a great shot but without the bulk of my other camera. I have an older Panasonic Lumix that is still in use. So far the FZ 70 is everything I hoped for. The 60x digital zoom is without distortion. I'm looking forward to using the movie feature. Still learn about this great camera. So far, very pleased.

Bringing Happiness brightens your day!

I got this camera as a gift for my wife. She loves taking photos where ever she goes. She usually carries a lot of equiptment so I got her this to lighten her load. The camera is great for the average person looking to take great looking pictures. Not everyone is a professional. The photos are still above average compared to others in it's class. Oh yeah, there are no other cameras at present in this class. It has a 20mm to1200mm equivilent compared to an SLR, but it's a fraction of the weight. I highly recommend this camera to those that are not snooty about their photography and just want to enjoy themselves.

Beware of Raw Files

The picture quality is very good however the RW2 raw files are not recognized by Lightroom or Aperture. The SILKYPIX software that can be used to open the raw files leaves much to be desired. The only other options are to either shoot in JPG or open the files in Photoshop and convert them to TIF's. The instruction manual appears to have been written by a person who is not all that familiar with English but with diligence you can understand it. This camera would be good for a Realtor in that the aspect ratio can be changed to accommodate different sized rooms. I will use it as a point & shoot for JPG's and for movies.

Love this camera

Panasonic has always excelled in long-zoom cameras that have very good image stabilization. I have been a fan of theirs for years and continue to buy their cameras. The FZ70 meets all of my expectations. The 60x optical zoom is incredible. Plus the camera is surprisingly easy to handle. I also currently own (and plan to keep) a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20, a pocket-sized camera with a 20x zoom. Great for when you want to whip a camera out of your pocket and still get a substantial zoom. I am extremely pleased with the image quality of both cameras.

Great camera

Fantastic auto focus! I was photographing tiny, fast-moving birds and based on experience with other cameras, I figured the pictures would all be focused on the plant instead but I ended up with several sharp shots. When hand-held at 60x, the images are sometimes a tiny bit soft, but overall, it is amazing.

Would not recommend this camera!

Nice looking camera, feels nice to hold. Very disappointed in the image quality! I will stay with my Nikon P510. Returned the camera. Easy and fast return to Adorama.

Great value and great for wildlife photo

Spent two days at Cape May State Park with my new camera and was thrilled with the results. The 60 X lens is perfect for taking picture of wild life and the Auto focus lock allowed me to caught birds in flight

I love this camera!

I take this camera with me everywhere, kayaking, camping, hiking, climbing. The best things about it is its ability to shoot raw and manual - and now its ability to shoot from 200-1200mm. What an awesome wildlife camera. The tradeoff for the superzoom is a bigger camera, but it is worth it.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70 Digital Camera is a bridge-style point-and-shoot digital camera that features a 16.1 megapixel High Sensitivity BSI MOS sensor and Venus Engine image processor to produce high resolution still imagery and full HD 1080i/p video with notable low-light quality. The combination of the processor and sensor enable a native sensitivity range of ISO 100-3200, which can be further expanded to ISO 6400. The processor also affords a wealth of speed to the camera, including the ability to record up to 9 fps in a 3 shot burst, 5 fps with one-shot AF or 2 fps with continuous AF.

The built-in Lumix DC Vario 60x optical zoom lens provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length range of 20-1200mm, covering wide-angle to telephoto perspectives for working in almost any shooting situation. Benefitting this extensive zoom range is POWER O.I.S., which works to minimize the appearance of camera shake when working with greater zoom magnifications and under low-light conditions. This image stabilization system also features an Active Mode that is well-suited to creating steady HD movies by countering the appearance of camera shake in a variety of directions.

Full HD 1080i video at 60 fps is supported in the high quality AVCHD codec and greatly benefits from the inclusion of a Wind Shield Zoom Microphone and Dolby Digital audio quality. The built-in stereo microphone works to significantly reduce wind noise in order to provide clearer overall audio quality. Its zoom design is also well-paired to the zoom lens to help achieve natural sounding recordings.

For image monitoring and playback, both a 3.0" 460k-dot LCD monitor and a 0.20" 202k-dot electronic viewfinder are available as bright, clear means for viewing. Also extending the functionality of the FZ70 is a hot shoe to facilitate the use of an external flash and an HDMI port for linking the camera to an HDTV for vivid image playback. A host of creative effects are available too, for enhancing the aesthetic appearance of both still images and movies in-camera.
