I hesitated buying an f4 lens. After taking 1000 photos I know this was a great choice. Perfect for landscape work.

I use this as my walk around lens. The pictures are really sharp and when you want a wide angle this lens gives one. The 35 mm longer focal length is ideal for much of what I do. I think that the lens at 35mm is better than the fixed focus 35mm lens. Buy it.

Sharpness is outstanding. Pleasant surprise was finding F4 is sufficient with Sony A711- No need for F2.8.

Color is vivid and not too much. Very very sharp. Highly recommended.

This is a great lens for the wide-angle fan and landscape photographer. I don't always have the option of "zooming with my feet" so having a zoom landscape lens that is sharp is important to me.

The images come out stunning with this lens. Best combo with A7R2

A great lens

Enjoy high-performance photography with the help of this Sony 16-35mm f/4 lens. The 16-35mm focal length lets you enjoy wide angles for group photos, architecture and landscapes so that you can include everything in one image. A continuous f/4 aperture produces consistent lighting throughout the focal range so that each image has the same amount of light, even when you are zooming. In addition, because only the internal components move when you are zooming, the lens length doesn't change, making this digital camera lens easy to handle.
This Sony 16-35mm f/4 lens has an E-mount fitting so it pairs with a wide range of Sony mirrorless cameras, ensuring you can take advantage ofthe ultra-rapid autofocus on select models. In addition, it incorporates image stabilization to reduce slight movement, producing clearer photos even in low-light conditions. Ultra-smooth linear motors keep lens judder and noise to aminimum so that when you produce videos, your movie isn't interrupted by the sound of the camera. This digital lens is also dust and moisture resistant, making it ideal for use outdoors even in high-particulate environments. Extra-low dispersion glass reduces the risk of chromatic aberration and fringingresulting from long focal lengths when using this Sony 16-35mm f/4 lens. The Sony 16-35mm Full-frame E-mount Wide-angle Zoom Lens features the ZEISS T* (T-Star) coating that virtually eliminates lens flare, internal reflection and light scattering that can otherwise occur at glass-to-air surfaces. The T* coating contributes to outstanding image quality, with high contrast and uniformly excellent resolution right out to the image edges. Not simply applied to any lens-the T* symbol only appears on multi-element lenses in which the required performance has been achieved throughout the entire optical path, therefore promising the highest quality.
Circular Aperture
When changing your aperture to defocus the background, the light sources appear blurred. This 'bokeh' effect of the blurred background can be enhanced with circular aperture blades used in this lens. Conventional aperture blades have flat sides creating unappealing polygonal shaped defocused points of light. Circular aperture overcomes this problem through the use of curved blades that keeps the aperture almost perfectly circular from its wide-open setting to when it is closed. Smoother, more natural defocusing can be obtained as a result.
Aspherical lens elements
Aspherical lens design dramatically reduces spherical aberration while also reducing lens size and weight. Spherical aberration is a slight misalignment of the light rays projected on the image plane, caused by differences in refraction in conventional spherical lenses which degrade image quality in large-aperture lenses. Specially shaped "aspherical" elements near the diaphragm restore alignment of light rays at the image plane, maintaining high sharpness and contrast even at maximum aperture and can also be used at other points in the optical path to reduce distortion. Well-designed aspherical elements often requires complex glass molding technology, but can reduce the total number of elements required, thus reducing overall size and weight.
ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass
As focal lengths get longer, lenses built with conventional optical glass have difficulties with chromatic aberration and as a result images suffer from lower contrast, lower color quality and lower resolution. ED glass dramatically reduces chromatic aberration and provides superior contrast across the entire image, even at large aperture settings.
Internal focusing
Only the middle groups of the optical system move to achieve focus, so the overall length of the lens does not change when focusing. Other important benefits include fast autofocusing and a short minimum focusing distance. Also, the filter thread at the front of the lens does not rotate, which is convenient when using a polarizing filter.
Lens-based Optical SteadyShot image stabilization
Gyro sensors built into the lens detect even the slightest movement and the stabilization lens is precisely shifted to counteract any image blur that might occur. The use of precision, quiet linear motors and technology inherited from high-end Sony professional camcorders results in exceptionally quiet, effective image stabilization that contributes to high-quality movies as well as stills.
Dust and moisture resistant design
The dust and moisture resistance design makes this lens appropriate for heavy-duty outdoor use, especially when combined with a camera that employs weather resistant measures such as the Sony's a7 series of cameras.
