GREAT ADDITION

I have been trying to buy one of these vertical grips for ages to use it with my Sony A99. It was easy to fit and the additional battery storage provides the ability to shoot all day without recharging. A wonderful addition to my Sony kit

The Gateway To Portrait Orientation Photography

This clever unit came with my A99 "bundle". Although it was a bit awkward at first, I now can easily add the vertical grip to the A99. When anticipating extended camera use, the security blanket of having the two extra NP-FM500H batteries in the grip working seamlessly with the camera battery is much appreciated. The grip attaches firmly and has its own hole for tripod mounting. I have gravitated toward a robust 3rd party quick release plate system for peace of mind with my both my monopod & tripod heads. With the right support equipment, it's a breeze to switch the fairly heavy A99 and it's accessories between landscape and portrait modes in a level fashion. I still prefer landscape orientation, perhaps because it better suits full screen display on my Vaio computer screen. But now I go out of my way to explore both orientation modes when time permits. I expect good things to come from that new habit over time.

It's a Veritical Grip

Good product, though a little bulky. Definitely a necessity if you're doing events and don't want to carry around a ton of batteries. Just doing photography (as opposed to videography)will drain a single battery in a few hours, it's great to have backups built in.

a value accessory for sony a99 camera

I am very satisfied with Sony VG-C99AM vertical grip. It adds 2 batteries and increase shooting time because A99 is power hungry (400 - 500 shots with one battery). Now i have 3 batteries in my camera and i can shoot all day without loosing power. The grip itself is well build and with many useful buttons.

Much needed addition

This vertical grip mates well with the A99 and the button features and setting nobs are all in the right position. The attachment screw and redesigned connection to the camera is very well thought out and allows quick attachments. The only concern so far is the plastic feel of the unit unlike the A900 verticle grip it just feels pretty cheap. The grip is totally made of a light plastic and I guess this has to do with keeping the whole unit when attached to the A99 as light as can be. However you will not want to do without it when it you plan to shoot for a significant amount of time. With all the new features and advancements with Sony lenses, (SSM etc.) without it you will surely be looking for an outlet to charge your single battery setup.

I have been trying to buy one of these vertical grips for ages to use it with my Sony A99. It was easy to fit and the additional battery storage provides the ability to shoot all day without recharging. A wonderful addition to my Sony kit

The Sony Vertical Grip for SLT-A99V features optimal contours and essential controls that provide comfort and handling on a par with horizontal shooting. With a newly designed system that offers a triple battery advantage (two batteries in grip plus one in the camera), users will experience the ultimate in extended shooting and playback.

Firm holding and control when shooting vertically
Shutter button is located at the low position for easy holding and positioning. All buttons are located in the most appropriate position for setting and controlling the camera when shooting vertically. Strap hole is added so the STP-GB1AM Grip Belt can easily be attached to the Vertical Grip.

Total of three NP-FM500H for enhanced power supply
Three NP-FM500H batteries (including one battery in the camera body, each sold separately) triple the battery performance compared to that of camera body alone. A battery with lower power in the grip is used first, and automatically switched over to the other when it runs out. The one in camera body is used at last to maximize shooting time. Remaining power of current battery conveniently indicated in percentages on the camera's LCD monitor.

Dust and moisture resistant design
Buttons, dials, battery cover and connecting terminal to the camera are securely sealed for dust and moisture protection. Auto switching power Auto switching to backup batteries for uninterrupted shooting. The batteries in the grip can be replaced without turning the camera power off

Key Features

  • Use up to three batteries to triple the battery performance
  • Replace batteries in grip without powering off the camera

What's in the box:

  • Built-in Battery Compartment for Li-Ion Batteries
