The Alpha 18K Head is equipped with either a Ceramic glass lens or a Standard 24" Fresnel, making it one of the smallest, lightest, and most adaptable 18K lighting units ever designed. At the heart of this innovation is a custom-made reflector, expertly molded out of quartz composite material. This unique design allows the lamp to be positioned closer to the reflector, reducing the physical size of the Alpha 18K by a third compared to traditional 18Ks on the market. The innovative reflector design enhances light output by nearly 15%, providing a softer and smoother lighting pattern compared to the conventional oversized aluminum reflector. The Alpha 18K Head also features a meticulously angled extrusion/vent system for maximum cooling efficiency. The small diameter reflector promotes better heat circulation, and a newly designed back bulkhead ensures the Alpha 18K's operating temperatures remain within specifications in any critical position, including when pointed straight down. The Alpha 18K Head is designed with a double suspension system, one linked to the lamp heat sinks and the other to the chassis support, making the lamp less susceptible to damage during location transportation. This high-quality lighting unit offers two modes: Fresnel and Open Eye, providing cinematographers and lighting directors with the flexibility they need to achieve the desired lighting effect. The Alpha 18K Head also features a quick-release latch for instant lens changes, a revolutionary quartz composite reflector that's 8% brighter than standard aluminum reflectors, and a spring-loaded suspension system to absorb vibration to the lamp. The cooling back cover is specially designed to operate with the light pointing straight down, and the combination of a high-efficiency-high-temperature-small-reflector, structural air vents, and this back cover provides efficient convection cooling in any operating position. The Alpha 18K Head also boasts double springs cooler suspension to protect the lamp during rough handling and transport, and easy front access to lamp leads terminal and wing nut.
