Questions & Answers

ROB M : Will it take a Canon 500mm lens down the center??WILLIAM H : I think that it wold, but I do not have one to test. I can fit a 100-400 easily. It is very flexible with loading. BillHORACE R : A nikon 400mm will fit. Diameter is tight. Plenty of room for length. Not sure how much bigger a 500 is. some of the side storage is sacrificedLISA M B : It handles my 70-200 lens down the middle no problem. I don't have a 500 mm to compare. It is a great bag. Well built and sturdy. Don J : Yes. It's an awesome bag and holds a lot kg equipment My 400 fits perfect in the center with room to spare Its also nice not to lug around a 50lb bagNORMA P : Yes it will.
Shopper : Is THIS SMALL ENOUGH TO CARRY ON BOARD THE PLANR FOR OVERHEAD STORAGE? mgfWILLIAM H : Another way is to take off the outer shell and use the backpack for carry on and gate check the rolling shell.LISA M B : On larger planes. On smaller planes the will try to make you check it at the gate.ANTHONY S : Yes I have placed this in the overhead storage on planes as I have traveled in the US. It is nice that I can lock my gear up and not have someone getting any thing out if I need to place it somewhere else in the cabin of the aircraft. I would buy this again without question. CheersSTEVEN S : It is small enough if your'e on a larger plane. It's roughly the same size as most carry on bags. On smaller planes you can remove the inside pouch of bag and check the outside bag without your camera gear being checked. This will make the bag small enough to fit in any overhead compartment. I would highly recommend this bag to any of my friends. Hope this helps!ISAAC C : yes and no... on the smaller regional planes it needs to be placed in the over head bin sideways. so yes if fit... straight in, either wheels or handle first was "iffy" or would not allow the bin door to close. One plane was yes the other was a no. also the flight assistant wanted me to check it planeside(yea rite thousands in gear!) because it looked large. The computer in the computer pocket. make the lid stick up another 2 inches! super tight in the case and super tight in the over head bin. I love this bags features, for storage and protection but unless you need a laptop, 6-8 lenses,2 pro bodies W/ grips get something smaller and lighter this thing weighs 14lbs empty. I would get it again but I would realize its right at the limit..JOE S : Yes, it's a carry-on bag for sure. I take it with me on board all the time.MARK S : According to the LowePro rep at Imaging USA 2012, it is ok for domestic travel, but not international. On some commuter type airline companies (American Eagle), it is considered a carry-on but doesn't fit overhead. It gets checked at the door of the aircraft and is retrieved upon departing the aircraft......does not get checked as baggageCK H : Yes. The size qualifies for carry on for most airlines. However, i later found that some airlines also have weight limits for carry on. For me it is not possible to have a full case of equipment and weight under 30 pounds. SARAH H : Yes, it is small enough to go in the overhead storage on the plane. The only thing is once it has all the gear in it it is a bit heavy. It is a great bag and I love mine.WILLIAM H : Yes, usually. However, we went on a smaller commuter, and the overhead baggage compartments were smaller. At that point, the flight attendant wanted me to check my $X,XXX worth of camera equipment. I refused. Luckily, the inner bag comes out and is much smaller. It fit fine. Overall I highly recommend this bag. It is well made and the features are good.MICHELLE H : I have not taken it aboard a plane, but it it the same size as my other carry ons. Keep in mind it is very heavy when loaded down. It will not fit overhead in smaller planes nor under the seat. It would need to be checked at the gate. Larger planes given enough strength should fit.SAM A : I have yet to take it on a plane but I showed it to a good friend that fly's all the time and she said it is good to go on an airplane. I will be trying it out in a couple of weeks on a photo excursion to Alaska so I hope it works. The research I did before ordering it confirmed it will go.JOSEPH M : yesTIM B : Yes, it fits the overhead of every plane I've tried so far... about a dozen trips. If you stuff the front pockets (on top if you lay it down) then it will be more difficult or impossible. I almost had to check it one time, but remove some batteries from the front pocket and it finally went in. So it's tight, but it fits the regulation.ERIC V : I have used this Lowepro Roller x200 on numerous international flights without overhead storage problems.ELIZABETH L : The short answer is..sometimes. It fits on jetblue, delta, Alaska large planes. If you pack it with a laptop, it's less likely to fit easily. On connecting flights in small planes domestic or abroad, you'll be begging the attendants to treat it carefully as they pry it out of your hands as they gate check it and the line behind you grows. Then you'll be nervous until you get off the plane and test all your equipment.DYLAN M : Awesome bag... but i haven't ben able to check it in on flights so far.LADON H : This bag IS small enough to fit above on BIGGER planes. I had to take a flight from DFW to South Carolina and they had to put my bag (I seriously cried!) with the strollers and they promised it would be safe, everything was fine. But I've always heard to never do that. So MOST aircraft, yes it will fit but the smaller FULL flights will not allow it because it comply can not fit in their over head bins.KATHLEEN K : Yes, it is small enough. I have traveled with this case both domestically and internationally and it easily fits into the overhead compartment.
Artsi W : Is it approved by airlines to take onboard?BURT R : The reason I purchased the 200 was because it has the TSA standard lock on it, giving you the ability to leave it locked, but still gives the TSA the ability to inspect if needed. It was built to travel via the airlines. It so happens that I have not had the need to use that feature as yet, so I have no experiences to back up the acceptability of that capability.WILLIAM H : I think that it fits the trial box at the ticket line, but I have not carried it on board. I really like the unit, very well made.MICHAEL B : i travel domestically often with the case as a carry onSTEPHEN B : I purchased the Pro Roller x200 to transport my gear to a photo workshop in Maine. I flew from LAX to Boston and used the roller as a carry on. I had no problem placing the Pro x200 in the overhead compartment. I would have concern if you placed a laptop in the zipper pocket of the Pro x200 as it may then be too high to fit in the overhead. I carried a laptop bacpack seperately as a second bag. I have also taked the Pro x200 on flights to Hawaii as a carry on. I like the size of the and it holds alot of gear. So much gear, I will take a smaller backpack to carry limited gear on day hikes and leave the Pro x200 at base camp. It is very sturdy and I like the extra security the cable lock provides. The lock is TSA approved and can be opened by TSA if you should check the bag at the airport. The cable lock is also good for security when you leave the Pro x200 behind at the hotel. I have heard that you could have carry on problems with this bag on smaller commuter aircraft, but I have not flown on a small plane like that with this bag.FAURIA Q : YesSUSAN D : I haven't taken it on an airplane. I'm sorry, I can't answer your question.ERIC V : I have used this only on international flights, not on short local flights, without any problems.PHIL R : I never tried taking this bag on airplaneSARA B : Yes, I brought this roller bag on a flight earlier this year and had no problem carrying it on. It is a tight fit in the overhead compartment so you will want to avoid stuffing the outside pockets. Otherwise, it traveled great and protected all my gear.SCOTT P : Not sure what exactly you mean by "approved", but I do believe it is very close to the dimensions that are acceptable for a carry on to fit in the overhead bins. As for the case itself, I love mine. It routinely carries a D700, D200, 24-70, 70-200, 105, SB900, SB600, Yungnuo 565, 4 Pocket Wizards, 24 spare AA batteries, 4 spare camera batteries, Xrite Color Checker, Sekonic light meter, extra memory cards, and cables for flashes and pocket wizards. Works for me. I don't think you will go wrong with this bag. :)DARRIN H : So far I've only used it on one trip from Kansas to White Plains NY. It was approved but because the jet was pretty small I had to keep it under the jet.JOHN B : I would check with each individual airline as each one has their own rules and they change constantly. It also depends on the size of the plane. If it doesn't fit in the overhead or under the seat the will check it in for you before you board the plane.STEPHEN B : I have flown domestic on American Airlines LAX to Boston and Hawaiian airlines, LAX to Kauai, with this bag. I have carried it on the plane because all my camera gear is in it for security. I have been able to place it in the overhead compartments without any problems. I like the extra security that is offered with this roller bag and the cable lock to secure the zippers. You set your own combination on the lock and it is TSA approved. Use this to lock it up in hotel rooms, etc. A very sound case with lots of compartments for gear. Roller system works well and I use it alot. I have not used the function of removing the lining and making it into a backpack. I don't think I would ever do that myself, by choice. I think if you put a laptop computer in the case it may be too tall for the overhead storage, so be careful about that. I carried my laptop in a seperate case like a backback. Hope this helps. It hold alot of gear. Much more that a day trip landscape photographer might take, so I use it at the car and remove the gear I expect to need on the shoot and use a smaller bag for hiking with the gear.

Great Case

I use this case daily, if not several times each day. The x200 is well built, versatile, and very well thought out. The only oversight, and the reason it does not get a '5th Star' in my book is the lack of a shoulder strap. There are times when the entire bag must be lifted and carried some distance. The bag does not have anchor points to add a strap. With that one feature this would be a 5 Star without question.

Everything I needed

I got to the point where carrying 4-5 lenses, 2 camera bodies, tripod, and all of the accessories was just too much for my body! I do weddings professionally and when I am carrying my gear around for 9-11 hours at at time I need something that keeps me organized, is easy to transport, protective, and quick to get in and out of... and this definitely does it! all of it! I Love that you can prop it open and go in and out of it easily and the different pouches to safely keep my free and used cards as well as other gear. The only thing I wasn't fond of was that its difficult to roll on gravel/stones... but I probably should have expected that.

Love this bag!!!

One of the coolest features of this bag is that it converts from a roller to a backpack simply by unzipping the zipper.

Excellent bag with plenty of space

this bag was purchased to replace two other bags that i was carrying. It will fit all my camera equipment ( 2 bodies, 4 lenses, plus underwater hounsing, ports and strobes when traveling) It also fits my laptop with chargers. It is easy to transport, and best of all i can carry it on and not worry abut by gear getting broken or stolen

Versatile & mostly durable

I've had this case a little over a year. My biggest fear was that the zippers would die, but they have been great. I'm paranoid about back up equipment, so the bag weighs 37 lb or more most of the time. Extendable handle and wheels work great. Only complaint is that after just a few trips, the leg that swings out from the back to set the bag at an angle collapsed. From then on I have had to lay the bag completely on its back, as the leg will not support the weight I think it was designed to handle. Maybe I should have asked for a replacement, but unfortunately I didn't.

LITTLE niceties in a BIG case!

Difficult to reassemble after using as a backpack. HEAVY tripod may make it fall to one side.

Good case to carry all equipment

I have two of these cases. They hold all of my equipment easily and safely with all of the padding and removable partitions. It is a little heavy to begin with and once fully loaded with equipment it can be fairly heavy.

Good but not perfect.

It holds all of my gear (2 cameras and 6 lenses) with ample room for filters, batteries and memory cards. The compartments are adjustable and will snuggly fit my equipment. My only complaints are 1.) The front compartment for personal stuff, ie keys, wallet, is very tight and difficult to access and doesn't hold much. 2.) The tripod holder on the side does not hold my tripod all that securely and the base keeps slipping out so I have to stop and readjust. 3.) It's a good thing it's on rollers because it's very heavy, even by itself without the gear, and also does not wheel very well when taking it off paved and smooth surfaces. I do some of my photography off dirt roads and it does not maneuver well over less than perfect terrain. 4.) The prop foot is not all that stable and the slightest bump against the carrying case can cause it to tilt on its side or fall backwards.

the best i have used

I ordered this bag as a way to take all of my needed gear and backup gear for wedding photography. I already had non-portable storage in my home studio. Since I received this bag I have just left everything in it and ready to go. I have a smaller bag if I only need one camera and my 28-300mm lens. The bag is very sturdy and well made and has replaceable wheels if they should ever wear out. The size and wheels are not always convenient but the whole bag zips out of the wheeled frame to become a very comfortable backpack case. It holds a d80 and d90 with lenses and grips attached, 7 other lenses, filters, 2 chargers for camera batts, 3 aa chargers, 30 aa batteries in cases, 2 full size bounce and swivel flashes, a compact flash, a dome diffuser with all three toppers, my memory card wallets, and laptop computer with a little room to spare. If you have a ton of gear you need a safe place for this is a great bag. The abilmity to use the handle as a low tripod or slave flash holder is a plus too. You can't go wrong.

REAL nice - needs just a few refinements

Love the flexibility to take what I anticipate needing for a shoot. In my opinion, strapping the tripod on the side needs improvement. I take both still and video tripods, and current design is not capable. I purchased luggage straps to put around the entire case to secure two tripods to it. Not ideal or pretty.

GREAT product!

Without this, it would be difficult to take all of my photo equipment along each time. All of my gear (DSLR and 5 lenses, including a 70-400) are now in one case for easy transport.

Well designed traveling camera case

This carry on camera and accessory case meets all airline regulations. Well padded, adjustable compartments, sturdy wheels and handle. Ballistic nylon exterior. Room for laptop and cords as well as all camera accessories. Maybe a bit pricey but well worth it.

What A Bag!

The x200 is a very roomy bag constructed and designed quite well with numerous pockets to organize all that misc. 'stuff.' The main compartment is spacious enough for two full size bodies and a myriad of lenses and flashes. The backpack feature is a very nice touch though I wouldn't want to trek too long with it on my back. The wheels are large and roll easily over most terrain and the built in TSA lock is added security built right in. Padding is ample and there are enough dividers to configure the bag in any number of ways. The tripod mount leaves much room for improvement. It seems flimsy, cheap and poorly designed. For that reason I can only rate this bag four stars. The x200 is far superior to last years pro roller which had a similar tripod mount so I am hoping that next year the tripod dilemma will be solved.
